I lie on my bed as I watch Lisa chuck clothing out from my closet looking for something good enough for me to wear.

"Ah! Finally! Here you go Maddie."

She comes out of my closet in a mess. There are clothes hanging on her like ornaments on a Christmas tree. She's holding a pair of jean shorts with a couple of rips in them. She's also holding a graphic t-shirt that says all sorts of flirty stuff. Also, some converse with blue, white, and green on them.

"A bit casual don't you think for trying to impress a boy?"

"Oh Maddie, you never keep up with fashion. Casual is all the rage these days."

"Yeah right Lisa, you never follow fashion."

"Whatever. Just wear this please." She looks at me with her puppy dog eyes.

"Ugh. Fine. You know it's really unfair that you use those puppy dog eyes to get what you want."

"Hey well, it's even harder to get stuff without it."

We both laugh.

"Here give me the clothes. I'll go change in my bathroom."

She hands me my clothes. I take them and shut the door to my bathroom. I slip off my clothes and put them on my shelf. I put on my jean shorts. Wow, Lisa. Kind of a tight fit. Well at least they fit me, and don't cut off my blood flow. I put on my shirt, and pull on my converse. I look at myself in the mirror. Yeah, I might want to touch up on my makeup. I first brush my hair so it cascades down my back, and not in front of my face. I put a little bit of lip gloss on my lips. I look up as I put some mascara on. I wonder how Martin will look like when he comes to pick me up. I wonder if he likes what I'm wearing. Switch to my other eye. One of the bad things about liking a boy is you never know if they like you back, but after that episode under the bleachers I'm pretty sure something's clicking between Martin and I. Some eyeshadow and blush....... and I'm done. I look in the mirror at myself. I'm satisfied. I open the door and look at Lisa.

"So how do I look?"

"All I can say Maddie is, Martin is going to fall for you once he sets eyes on you today."

"Really?"

"Yeah Maddie. You know you really deserve someone for you."

"Same with you. You're such a great friend. They would be really lucky to have a girlfriend such as you."

"Awwww. Thanks Maddie. Well, I better be going now since I helped you with your clothes now."

"Ok, see you at school tomorrow."

"Bye! Good luck with Martin!" She winks at me and goes down the stairs skipping one step as usual. I hear her shut the front door. Darn it. I forgot to ask her about the secret meeting she did with Martin on the field. Wait a second..... She's going to his house right now! Oh wait she's just going to help him about me. I think about Martin and what Lisa and him were talking about on the bleachers. I have this bubbly feeling in my stomach after hearing him say all that stuff. I look at my alarm clock. 4:30. I scowl. Have you ever had that feeling that when you want to do something so badly that time goes so slowly, and you keep getting more and more impatient? Well that is what is happening to me right now. I try to pass the time by reading, but every few sentences I glance at the clock which doesn't help me at all. I toss my book onto my bedside table. I sit up on my bed and look at the clock. 4:45. Almost there. Come on Maddie, you sound so desperate. That's not going to make you more likable. I throw myself down on my bed. I'm greeted with; not my pillow, but my headboard on my bed. I'm so blinded by pain that I don't even realize I'm slipping away into blackness. A vision. I haven't had one in a long time. The last thought I have is that this is a good way to past time while I wait for Martin.

I look around myself. Just a small room with a tunnel leading out of it. I realize I'm back in the hole. I back against the wall when I hear a young woman's voice.

"Take anything Maddie, this is your room."

What does she mean "this is your room?" I look around. Looks like a normal room. A table with some chairs in a corner, and a couch and love seat next to big old heater. In the middle is a square carpet thats embroidered and decorated with all sorts of designs. There are dressers and closets full of lots of objects and papers. Some of the papers in the dresser look like they're a thousand years old and will crumble if softly touch it with your finger. When I turn around there is a young woman who looks exactly like me except more mature and older. She is reading one of the books I saw on the table. She picks up a pen and writes something in it. All of a sudden, her eyes glaze over. She stares at the same spot on the wall as if in a trance. She shakes her head all of a sudden. The book slowly starts inching of her lap. She almost drops it, but she catches it at the last second. She has a satisfied look on her face. She closes the book and carefully sets it down on the table. She stands up and sees me. Her eyes widen in surprise.

"Who are you?"

I realize she's talking to me. Is it just me or did my power just evolve? I've never been able to talk to people I see in my visions.

"U-uh m-my name is M-Maddie Chase."

"What!? My name is Maddie Chase too!"

"What?"

A man comes in through a tunnel. I gasp. Why do those eyes turn up everywhere I go? The woman turns to the man who I assume is Martin.

"Maddie? Who are you talking to?"

Martin doesn't seem to see me.

Older Maddie says,"No one, honey. Go back to your work now."

Older Martin looks reassured and says,"Ok, babe. I believe you."

He turns and walks away leaving both of us staring at each other.

"Honey? Babe? What?"

She shrugs and smiles at me all lovey - dovey. Yes! We're gonna be together! Well technically there was no doubt. I start feeling the pull of the vision signaling my return to reality.

"Oh no. The vision is ending. Maybe I'll come back?" I say.

She just stands there all confused.

I start fading away and I hope not too much time has passed for my date with Martin. When I feel the soft blanket of my bed I open my eyes and hurringly look at the clock. 4:30? I scowl. Come on. I mean seriously, I had a freakin vision for Christ's sake to pass the time. Have you ever had that feeling that when you want to do something so badly that time goes so slowly, and you keep getting more and more impatient? I hate that feeling. I pick up my book Life of Pi from my bedside table and try to read. Though every few sentences I glance at the clock which doesn't help me at all. I toss my book back on the table. I lay down on my bed slowly so I don't have a repeat of head accident earlier. I stare at my pale chipping ceiling. Just a few seconds ago my heart was beating madly because of my "anxiety" (we'll call it that I guess) and now as I'm on my bed, I remember how tired I am from all this. Maybe I'll just rest my eyes until he gets here.

............................................................................................................................................................

"Maaaaaaadddddddddiiiiiiiiieeeeeee? Maddie? Come on sleepy girl wake up."

"Oh mom. Is it morning already? Awww. Five more minutes."

I hear a familiar chuckle. I yawn and stretch my muscles out.

"Maddie, you're so funny," says a velvety voice.

Wait a second. I know that voice. Could it be? I snap my eyes open and see a pair of gorgeous blue eyes staring happily and amusingly at me............
