💖Author's POV💖

There was a pause in the conversation a moment of silence that felt heavy between them..... Nandini glanced up at him and her heart fluttered in her chest.....

Manik was sitting close to her closer than usual.... She could feel the warmth raditing from his body to hers and it made her stomach do flips.... She didn't know why but lately being around him made her feel different.....

They had always been close always shared everything with each other... But now something had changed....

Every time Manik looked at her she felt her cheeks grow warm..... Every time their hands brushed by accident it sent a spark through her.... She didn't understand it but it was hard to ignore.....

Suddenly Manik reached out slowly his hand brushing against hers making Nandini look up at him with her eyes wide with surprise....

His touch was soft and for a moment neither of them moved and instead they just stared at each other with their faces inches apart.....

Manik's heart pounded in his chest and he didn't know what was happening but he couldn't stop himself.... Being this close to Nandini feeling her warmth and her closeness made everything else disappear.....

He could see the way her lips parted slightly the way her chest rose and fell with each quick breath.... She was nervous just like him....

Slowly almost as if he was afraid she would pull away Manik laced his fingers with hers.... Their hands fit together perfectly like two pieces of a puzzle....

Nandini's breath hitched and she looked down at their intertwined hands her heart racing...... This was new... this felt different but it felt right....

Neither of them spoke.... They didn't need to.... The silence between them said more than words ever could.... They sat there holding eachothers hands feeling the weight of what was happening between them....

Nandini's pulse was racing and she was sure Manik could feel it through her skin.... Her whole body felt warm and flustered but she didn't want to pull away.....

Manik too was lost in the moment.... He couldn't believe how right it felt to be this close to her.... He had always cared about Nandini always wanted to protect her....

But now sitting here holding her hands he realized that his feelings went much deeper than he had ever thought.....

After what felt like an eternity Nandini finally broke the silence and whispered with her voice barely audible....

Nandini : Maniii....

He turned to look at her iwth his heart in his throat and replied with same soft voice....

Manik : Yeah Nandu....

Nandini looked up at him with her eyes wide and uncertain and asked....

Nandini : What... what are we doing....

Manik didn't know how to answer... He didn't know what they were doing either....

All he knew was that being this close to her and holding her hand felt like the most natural thing in the world.... He didn't want to let go....

Manik : I don't know....

he admitted with his voice low and continued...

Manik : But I don't want it to stop either....

Nandini's cheeks flushed at his words and she looked down at their intertwined hands again..... Her fingers tightened around his and she smiled softly and whispered.....

Nandini : Me neither....

This borught a huge shy smile on Manik's face too so to hid his blushy face he turned other side and closed his eyes bit his lips in happiness and after controlling himself he then stared at their intertwined hands...

They sat there for a while longer their hands still intertwined and their hearts still racing....

Neither of them knew what was happening between them but they both knew that something had changed.... Something important....

It was scary and exciting all at the same time.... The feelings that had been building up inside them for so long were finally starting to come to the surface and neither of them knew what to do about it....

But in that moment sitting together on the stairs it didn't matter.... They were together and that was enough....

As the sun began to set while Manik finally let out a soft sigh and said....

Manik : We should probably get going...

Even though he said it out he didn't make any move to stand up.... Nandini just nodded her head but she too didn't move either and agreed....

Nandini : Yeah we should....

But neither of them let go of the others hand.... They sat there for a few moments longer savoring the closeness the warmth the feeling of being exactly where they were meant to be....

Eventually they stood up still holding hands and walked back to the main part of the campus with their hearts lighter than they had been in a long time....
