Beast Boy had been planning this surprise for weeks. He couldn't wait to see the look on his wife's face when he finally revealed what he had in store for her. "Rae," he called out from the living room, grinning as she stepped out from their bedroom, "I've got a little surprise for you. How do you feel about a long drive tonight?"
Raven raised an eyebrow, intrigued but suspicious. "A drive? In the middle of the evening?"
"Trust me," he said with a playful grin, walking over to her and holding out his hand. "You'll love it. Just grab a jacket—it might get chilly later."
Though curious, Raven nodded, slipping into her shoes and taking his hand. "Alright, I'll bite. Lead the way."
They headed down to the garage where a rugged, dark green Jeep Gladiator awaited them. It was BB's latest adventure vehicle, and he had affectionately named it "The Beast." With its all-terrain tires and spacious bed, it was the perfect choice for what he had planned.
They drove for hours, chatting and listening to music, the city lights slowly fading behind them as they climbed higher into the mountains. Raven leaned her head against the window, watching the trees pass by, the peace of the night slowly seeping into her.
"You're being very cryptic," she said, a hint of amusement in her voice as she glanced at him.
Beast Boy just smiled wider. "Patience, love. You'll see."
As they reached the top of a secluded mountain ridge, the sky had turned shades of orange and pink, the sunset nearing. Beast Boy pulled "The Beast" to a stop in a secluded spot with a stunning view of the sunset.
"We're here!" he announced, jumping out of the truck with excitement. Raven got out slowly, taking in the stunning view, but before she could ask any questions, Beast Boy went to the back of the truck and started setting something up.
Curious, Raven walked over to see what he was doing. To her surprise, he had laid out an air mattress in the back of the Jeep, covering it with soft blankets and pillows. Two poles on either side of the truck bed held up a flowing white sheet, creating a cozy canopy. At the foot of the mattress was a large tray filled with food and snacks—sandwiches, fruits, chocolates, and even her favorite herbal tea.
"Gar..." she said softly, her heart warming at the sight. "You did all of this?"
"All for you," he said with a wink, hopping down and walking around to her side. "Come on, let's get comfy. I've even got a movie ready."
He helped her climb up into the back of the truck, making sure she was safe and steady. She couldn't help but laugh softly at how gentle and careful he was with her. Once she was settled, Beast Boy climbed up next to her, pulling a tablet from his backpack to play a movie under the canopy of stars.
As the sun finally dipped below the horizon, they snuggled together, leaning into each other with a gentle warmth. Raven rested her head on his shoulder, a rare soft smile playing on her lips. "You're full of surprises, you know that?" she murmured, glancing up at him.
He chuckled, pressing a kiss to her temple. "I just love seeing you happy."
They stayed like that for a while, enjoying the movie, the food, and the comfort of each other's presence. Raven shifted closer, taking a bite from a sandwich before offering him one. The night was peaceful, the cool mountain breeze mixing with the warmth of their cozy setup.
At one point, Beast Boy paused the movie and pointed up at the sky. "Look!" he whispered excitedly.
Raven followed his gaze and gasped. Above them, the stars had come out in full force, the sky now a sea of shimmering lights. It was breathtaking. She turned to him, her violet eyes reflecting the starlight.
"I don't know how you come up with these things," she whispered, her voice soft and full of affection. "But thank you."
Beast Boy smiled, brushing a strand of hair from her face and tucking it behind her ear. "Anything for you, Rae. You deserve the world."
She leaned up and kissed him softly, her lips lingering on his as the stars twinkled above them. It was a perfect moment—just the two of them, away from everything else, lost in each other.
As they lay back down, Beast Boy wrapped his arm around her, pulling her close to his chest. The movie played in the background, but neither of them was really watching anymore. Raven snuggled into him, feeling completely at peace for the first time in a while.
"Best surprise ever," she whispered against his chest, her voice sleepy but content.
Beast Boy kissed the top of her head and smiled. "And there's plenty more where that came from, love."
As the night wore on, they drifted off to sleep under the stars, wrapped in each other's arms, the warmth of their love keeping the mountain cold at bay. This night, high above the world, was theirs alone—a perfect memory to cherish forever.
