Author's pov

Vanika works on the computer when she hears Nikita and Priya (office colleague) talking to each other about Ishaan's new friend.

"I can't believe it, Nikita! Our boss was talking so sweetly to that girl. He even took her into his cabin, and you know he never let's so close to anyone and not even in his cabin!" Priya said, lowering her voice as she sat next to Vanika, Vanika could hear every word.

Nikita glanced up briefly before replying, "Relax, Priya. She's a close friend of the boss. She comes to the office often, and they're just friends. But, seriously, don’t even think about gossiping like this. If the boss hears, we’re both going to be fired. You know how much he hates rumors."

"I know," Priya sighed, her voice heavy with disappointment. "But I still hoped he'd notice me. I even tried talking to him once, and he told me—straight to my face—that I shouldn’t even bother because he's already in love with someone else."

Vanika overheard the entire conversation, and a sharp pang of jealousy twisted in her chest.

Vanika stood up from her seat and made her way to the washroom. As she walked through the corridor, she spotted Ishaan with a girl. The girl was about Vanika's height, with beautiful hair resting on her shoulders, dark black eyes, and a radiant smile. She wore a short blue dress and seemed effortlessly elegant and beautiful. Ishaan was completely engrossed in conversation with her.

Suddenly, the girl lost her balance. Just as she was about to fall, Ishaan caught her by the shoulder and pulled her to his side.

Vanika watched the entire scene unfold from the top floor, her heart sinking. Though they were down below, everything was crystal clear. A strange sensation coursed through her veins—something she couldn’t quite name but had never felt before.

She returned to her desk and tried to focus on her work, but her mind remained fixated on Ishaan and that girl.

"Vanika, let’s go to the cafeteria. It’s lunch time," Nikita said, closing her laptop.

"Yeah, I’m coming," Vanika replied, shutting down her computer and calling Shreya to join them for lunch

Vanika pov

We sat in the cafeteria, and everyone was busy gossiping about Ishaan and dhriti's interaction earlier that day. But my mind was elsewhere—caught up in thoughts of Ishaan. I couldn’t figure out why he was always on my mind. Even yesterday, when he messaged me, I was already in a bad mood. His message popping up just added to my irritation, and I ended up replying to him rudely. Maybe that's why he’s stopped talking or looking at me.

It should be a good thing, right? He’s finally keeping his distance. But why does that bother me so much.

Then, out of nowhere, I started talking to Rohit, who had been calling my name repeatedly. I didn’t even notice until he said

"Vanika, kiske yaadon mein khoi hui ho?" Rohit teased with a smirk.

"Nope Rohit, it's nothing! I’m just thinking about this new project," I lied, feeling the heat rise in my cheeks. There was no way I could admit that I was lost in the thoughts of our boss.

But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t shake the unsettling feeling. Why does he keep invading my mind, pulling me into a whirlwind of emotions.

"Okay, but relax a bit. Leave work for now and enjoy the moment Work will always be there," he said with a casual tone. I nodded in agreement. We were eating, chatting about random things, but amidst it all, I felt a strange sensation, as if someone's eyes were constantly on me. I tried to ignore it at first, but the feeling only intensified. Curiosity got the better of me, and I slowly turned my head to the right.
