It was a cloud free and quite warm day, the summer break had just begun. A whole summer to do what ever you felt like. No more teachers drowning you in homework. No more early morning quidditch practice or late night studying in the library, writing page up and page down until your hand began to cramp. Just sleep in every morning or read a book with an actual plot.
About two months ago Ernie Macmillian from Hufflepuff had asked you out on a date while you were studying in the library for the O.W.L exams. The two of you had gone for a walk around the lake and talked, for hours.
It was nice being with him and you felt butterflies in your stomach whenever he walked past you in the corridors.
Ginny and Hermione were really happy for you and wanted to know every detail about the dates. The three of you could spend a lot of time in the common room talking about boys and comparing Victor with Ernie, gossiping and giggle which made both Ron and Harry groan in annoyance.
Harry on the other hand wasn't so thrilled. He was very overprotective of you because you were like his sister. Though he eased up a bit as the time went by and he saw how happy the relationship with Ernie made you.
When you got home from Hogwarts a few days ago you felt it would be appropriate to tell your parents about your boyfriend, only you didn't know how.
In Sirius eyes you were still his little girl, he would snap if he found out about Ernie. Remus on the other hand you felt more comfortable telling.
Later that day you were standing in front of the mirror, trying to decide what to were on your date with Ernie this afternoon. The two of you were going to Florean Fortescue's in Diagon Alley.
Suddenly Remus appeared in the doorway.
R: Wow you look great pup! Something special happening today? Remus asked with the laundry basket in his arms.
J: Uuhm, you stuttered trying to find courage to tell him.
J: I'm going on a date, you mumbled but loud enough for Remus to hear.
R: What? Remus said and almost dropped the basket in surprise. You turned bright red.
R: Oh honey I'm so happy for you!
J: You are? You said and looked at Remus.
R: Of course I am, why wouldn't I be? Have you told your father yet? He asked and looked at you with those inspecting eyes only a parent (and McGonagall of course) could have.
J: Well um... I thought maybe you could do that, you said carefully while looking down at your feet.
R: Oh no that you'll have to tell him your self Julie, Remus answered as Sirius entered your bedroom.
S: I heard someone mention me, Sirius said and looked at you.
S: Fancy outfit today, what's the occasion pup? Sirius asked and Remus looked at you.
J: Dad... I'm going on a date, you said and waited for his big reaction, but it never came.
S: Oh! Well how nice, who is it? Sirius said with a warm smile and you felt something ease in your body.
J: His name is Ernie MacMillan, he's a Hufflepuff, you said.
S: MY DAUGHTER IS DATING A HUFFLEPUFF?! Sirius shouted.
*silence*
Remus gave him a sharp look and he calmed down a bit.
S: I er... I mean it doesn't matter which house he belong to as long as you're happy, pup! The tree of you hugged.
R: Just remember to use protection if you *cough* you know, Remus said.
J: Dad I'm FIFTEEN! You shouted.
R: It had to be said, Remus answered looking rather innocent. Sirius ruffled your hair as they walked out of the room, leaving you alone.
You sank down on the floor with a smile, feeling both happy and relieved after having told both of your dads. Why was that even a big deal? You thought while leaning back with your head against the wall. Your mind drifting away into a place far away.
