The group of six slowly made their way through the woods, Clarke was leading them with Athena only a couple steps behind and then the rest of the group further behind them both. The trek wasn't as bad as Athena thought it would be. The ground was soft underneath their feet and the trees helped shield them from the sun as it beat down around them and warmed their skin.

Athena let herself bask in a spot of sun for a moment while the others caught up, her fingers played with the petals of a pretty purple flower by her side before she plucked it from the ground and lifted it to her face. She examined it for a moment until she thread it through the top pocket on her jacket.

Once she could clearly hear the talking from the other group she picked up her pace again to catch up with Clarke. She hated the idea of her wandering off alone. Athena grinned at Clarke when she quickly glanced over her shoulder to check on them, earning a roll of the blonde's eyes in return.

"Slow down, Blondie." Athena laughed as she came to step beside her. "Take it in for a bit."

"I am." Clarke scoffed.

"Oh, yeah it looks like it." Athena nodded before taking the flower she picked and held it out for her. "Pretty flower, pretty girl."

"Real smooth, Athena." Clarke rolled her eyes but she still took it and slid it into the strap on her bag.

Athena went to reply but the sound of Octavia's slightly panicked voice hit her ears and she turned around the find the girl swatting one of the flowers out of her hair while Monty rambled about them.

"Hey, guys, would you try to keep up?" Clarke sighed.

"Come on, Clarke. How do you block all this out?" Finn asked her

"Well, it's simple, I wonder, 'why haven't we seen any animals?' Maybe it's because there are none. Maybe we've already been exposed to enough radiation to kill us." Clarke explained and Athena had to give it to her, she did have a point. "Sure is pretty, though. Come on."

She let the blonde go ahead this time. As much as she wanted to make sure the blonde was safe and be near her, she knew she had to let her have some space. Plus she did want to at least spend some time with her new friends and Finn.

"I got to know what you two did to get busted." Finn suddenly asked, looking at Jasper and monty over his shoulder.

"Sumac is not the only herb in the garden, if you know what I mean." Monty smirked at them, lifting his hand to accept the high-five Athena sent him.

"Someone forgot to replace what we took." Jasper then added on.

"Someone has apologised, like, a thousand times." Monty bit back.

"How about you, Athena. What did you do?" Jasper asked.

Athena swallowed thickly and sent a glance to Finn, the boy meeting her eyes with an understanding look. It wasn't every day that the kids were locked up for killing a guard, so to say she wasn't exactly open to talking about it would be an understatement.

"Doesn't matter, we're here now." Athena smirked at him before quickly heading after Clarke.

"Quiet." Clarke whispered almost immediately and grabbed her wrist to pull her down. "Look."

"Holy shit." Athena mumbled. Her eyes snapped towards the pairs of feet that started to join them and she held one finger up to her lips, while the other hand helped stabilise Octavia beside her.

"No animals, huh?" Finn smirked at Clarke.

Athena went to quickly stop him from moving forwards when she noticed the shift in his feet but before she could he stepped on a twig and sent a loud crack resonating around the woods. The sound started the deer and its head snapped in their direction. They all jumped bak in surprised when the mutated head came into full view, none of them knew how to react or what to say as the deer ran off leaving them there.
