Nico looked at me after I asked if he wanted a chocolate, that stoic face not giving much away unless you knew what little signs to look for. A slight softening of his lips; some emotion in his eyes that he didn't usually allow around others; some of the tension he carried in his body seeping away.

"Costanza," he said and came straight to me on the bed.

"I'll feed you one."

"You can feed me the whole box," he agreed immediately.

"Let's start with one, Nico," I smiled at him.

"We'll start with whatever you want."

Selecting one of the chocolates, I fed it to him, and he held my wrist so he could draw my index finger into his mouth and make sure no chocolate remained on it. Then he took my thumb and gave it the same treatment.

"I'm so used to it being just us, Nico, and to think that pretty soon it's going to be three of us."

"And I hope soon after, it'll be four of us, then five of us, maybe."

"I feel like we're going to have all girls," I mused, rubbing my belly.

"Dream come true," he said immediately, his hand going to my bump. "I can see me sitting at the dinner table with all my girls, listening to them chatter about their days, the girls getting in trouble once in a while because they were throwing knives in their bedroom at their dolls instead of at the throwing wall."

The thought of that made me laugh. "Oh? You're going to be able to punish the girls?"

"Fuck, no. They'll be perfect just like their mamma. When I say get in trouble, I mean I'll talk to them, but not too sternly because I don't want them to cry, and I'll just explain to them very calmly why they shouldn't do it. Then I'll probably put a throwing wall in each of their rooms, too."

"And what if they get in serious trouble?"

"Easy," he said. "We blame it on Janie being their godmother and say that, in hindsight, we never should have let that rampaging battle-axe anywhere near our daughters when they were young and impressionable."

"Not sure that's going to fly, but if you try to tell her that she's to blame for whatever our children do wrong, I want to be there for it."

I continued feeding Nico chocolates every night, and he continued to up his game. First it began with him sucking any chocolate off my fingers. Then he insisted I'd gotten some on my breasts and he had to get it off for me, and somehow, a few nights later, his mouth was between my legs to get any chocolate that might have dropped down there when I was feeding him.

"I'm not sure how any chocolate would have made it past my maternity jeans and extra-humongous panties, but I'm pretty sure I don't give a damn," I gasped, my hands gripping his hair as his mouth checked very thoroughly for any stray chocolate bits.

A few nights later, I offered Nico a chocolate, but pulled it back so he only bit into half of it. I took the remaining half back and looked at it. Then I offered the half to Nico and let him bite it in half. Again I looked at it before popping that small sliver of chocolate into my mouth.

"I will never do that to you again, Costanza," he said, his eyes warm and apologetic, his hands on my face.

"I would hope not," I said. "Because if you ever did, I promise I'd use you for target practice, but this time, I'd miss."

"Never," he promised, his eyes turning molten. "And fuck me if you're not the hottest fucking thing in the world when you're threatening to kill me."

Only a Body man. I shook my head, amused.

"Now it's my turn to check for chocolate," I told him as I unbuckled his belt.

I made very sure there wasn't any to be found, and then Nico returned the favor because you just couldn't be too sure.

"OK, I've got something and I wish I didn't," Fina was saying on our nightly call, her voice both angry and sad. "Teo and I were a couple of towns over tonight, about an hour away at a really nice, romantic restaurant, meeting his cousin and wife for dinner. They just found out they were expecting, so we wanted to celebrate in a special way."

She hesitated, which let all of us know that whatever was coming was big.

And not good.

Her face was so tense, all of us immediately tensed, bracing for what was to come.

"When we were seated, I saw a man and woman in profile, and he was holding her hand. And...and at one point he reached across their little table and stroked her cheek. Another time, he kissed the back of her hand. They were leaning toward each other, and it looked very cozy. He even gave her a little gift, a pair of earrings, because she took out her earrings and put the new ones in."

She took several deep breaths.

"Moxie, the man was Enzio."

The call erupted.

"Motherfucker's going to die!" Janie snapped.

"Asshole!" That was Ant. "I'm going to fucking kill him!"

"Fuck him and his bitch sidepiece!" Vic snarled. "I knew you guys shouldn't have stopped me from throwing one of my little stars at his dick when we were at the hospital."

"Let's take him for a ride," I suggested. "Do you think he's at the restaurant still?"

Moxie shook her head. "No. He just walked in," she said, her voice quiet.

All of our phones chimed.

"Well, if he says pics or it didn't happen, you got the proof, Mox," Fina said. She'd sent us all five still pictures of Enzio and his side piece in the restaurant and one short video that showed him caressing the woman's face.

"I went to the restroom with Teo's cousin's wife. I told her briefly what was going on, so she went back to our table so she'd pass by Enzio's table, pretending she was on the phone. She snapped a front picture of Enzio, getting the back of the side piece's head, just so he couldn't deny it was him with this woman. There is no mistaking that nasty-ass purple dress she's wearing. And there's no denying it's his face. The bastard."

We all watched Moxie look at her phone, waiting for her to gather herself and look back at the screen. "No mistake," she said with false levity. "That's Enzio."

"Where did he say he was going to be tonight?" Ant asked.

"He didn't. He doesn't really, um, keep me in the loop anymore. He gets home when he gets home. We don't actually talk much...at all, honestly...except about Gennaro."

Nobody said anything to that for a minute.

"You don't have to stay with him," Janie said gently. "You can come here, with Gennaro."

"I know. And I appreciate it. But I consulted a lawyer and he said it's best not to leave the house or take our boy and move somewhere else until I've served him. I could, but he said it's better to wait if my situation isn't dangerous."

"Yours might not be, but Enzio's situation sure as hell is dangerous," Vic said. "I can be to your house in ten. Send him to take out the garbage and I'll make sure his dick never works again."

"When are you serving him?" I asked.

"Tomorrow," she said.

"We'll come hang with you," I said. "In case the asshole decides to come home and confront you after he gets your petition for divorce."

"He won't care," Moxie said. "Especially if he already has a girlfriend. I just can't stand the thought of his new friend being around Gennaro."

"We can make sure that never happens," Janie said darkly.

"OK, tomorrow, we'll all be at your place, hang out with you all day, into the evening, make sure the dickhead doesn't try to start anything," Fina said.

I was the only one who didn't show up, however, because later that night, someone decided to make her debut two weeks early.
