They had developed a routine when it came to the car. Olivia, Wesley, and Tyson always sat in the same spot while the eldest boys switched every other time they were in the car. This round it had been Hunter up by Elars she had gotten in the driver's seat turning on music as she began to drive. "Can I trust you not to tear my brother's heads off?" She glanced at him, backing out of the garage.

"If there is anything like old lady Kate then their a free game for me to punch," Hunter said smugly Elara chuckled she knew he was joking.

"You're not a fan either?" She smirked at him. Before a small almost whimper was spoken.

"Ella" she recognized Wesley talking.

"What's up bud?" She glanced at him in the rearview mirror and she could tell something was up.

She heard him sniffle and people moving around. She presumed Hunter was leaning to see if he was crying. "A-are they like mother?"

Elara tensed. Yes, she still talked to Carson and Hunter about their mother, but not to the younger ones she didn't want them to remember what Lila did. She knew it could never be fully forgotten by any of them, Lila put them through too much hell for that, but she wanted to take away as much as she could from the younger ones. She took a shaky breath.

"Buddy listen I'm never going to let you go to an environment like that again ok?" She was focusing on the road and holding back her shaky breaths. "What..mother did wasn't right, people don't do that and I'm never gonna let her do that to any of you again."

"So we're not going back?" He said sniffling.

"No bubbas I promise you that and if she does end up getting you guys back I'll punch her in the face ok?" She heard him laugh a little at the last statement. "I promise all of you that I'll never put you in a situation like she did." She sighed, not expecting to have that conversation today.

"Why'd she do it then" Tyson spoke from the back of the car.

Elara paused and honestly, she didn't know. "Hard to tell Ty...but you're safe now all of you." She didn't know what else to say as her mind wandered to Rex. Her brain thought through the times he held her as she sobbed remembering the pain she endured.

She frowned thinking of her brothers having to feel the same pain she feels on certain nights, and from stories Hunter had told her Lila had done worse to them.

She zoned back in when Olivia started to yell.

"Caw!" She yelled that Elara couldn't fully see her but she knew from the walks they went on and the animal books that "caw" refers to birds. Everyone in the car let out a small laugh, moods shifting lightly.

She pulled into the house she looked back at them hopeful that they wouldn't start on a bad note with Adria or the twins. She was getting Olivia out as she felt all of the boys behind her. She gave a smile before looking at Wesley. "Hey C'mere"

Slowly he approached. Elara sat Olivia down holding onto her knowing she would run if she didn't.

As Elara hugged him for about 20 seconds rubbing his back she broke loose "Don't worry about that ok?"

Wesley gave a nod and Elara grabbed his hand squeezing it which lit up his face even more. Guiding Olivia to the door she had to pick her up due to the girl not doing too hot at getting through the gravel. Going to the door she had her key as she opened it and when it was unlocked she walked in and saw Faron and Ethan lying on the ground with their hermit crabs on the carpet. Elara led Wesley in as she held Liv on her hip still.

"Ellie!" Faron said standing up leaving Ethan to pick up the crabs he started to run over but stopped seeing the 5 new kids his face dropped in shock as if he had never heard they were with Elara. Ethan came over soon after Elara looked back leading the other boys in Tyson grabbed the same hand as Wesley looked around.
