🌪️ Quincy Beck 🌪️

I've never met someone so smug in my life, never had the desire to punch anyone until Cole Owens interrupted my peace. He was overcritical, rude, and grumpy, some might even say a real judgmental prick.

I've just finished packing up my teal Jansport backpack, that literally holds my entire life inside of it. I double check my hotel room making sure I haven't left something behind. It wouldn't be the first time. I instantly let out a groan when I see Cole leaning against Ty's truck drinking a coffee while watching the storm to the east roll in.

"You're up early." He states the obvious watching me walk down the few flights of stairs towards our parked vehicles. I send off a quick good morning text to everyone before pocketing my phone and ignoring his smugness. "Real mature Becks."

"I told you only my friends call me that." I walk past him towards Javi's truck already deciding that sitting in any enclosed space with him wasn't worth my mental health.

"Ty might actually kill me if I let you ride with Javi again." His gaze burned a hole in my back.

"Tempting," I smirk thanking god he couldn't see my face right now.

"Funny." He fakes a laugh. "Last night...you were working on some kind of...."

"Research," I answer for his pea-sized brain.

"But Ty does stupid youtube videos of him driving into tornados. What does research have anything to do with that?"

I roll my eyes turning around to lean against Javi's truck. "You really don't know you're brother that well do you?" I question him curiously.

He shakes his head, "We aren't exactly the best at keeping in touch."

"You mean, you are shitty at answering his calls and texts?" I question knowing the truth. Ty's been one of my best friends since I joined this crazy little crew. We've talked about his estranged relationship with his younger brother, the one he's been trying desperately to fix.

He scoffs, "You know....you have no problems calling someone a judgmental prick but have you looked in the mirror lately?"

I smile sweetly at him, "Of course and I look damn good."

Another scoff leaves his pretty lips as we walks off. I watch him grumpily talk to himself a few feet away. It was kind of satisfying knowing I get under his skin.

"Morning my beauitful favorite genius!" Boone shouts from his doorway, his smile brighter than the sun.

"Morning Boone Baby!"

"You know how much I love when you call me baby." He smirks jogging over towards our vehicles to kiss my forehead with a big smack of the lips.

"Okay....hands off." Javi tells him, his footsteps ridiciously silent behind us.

"Jealous boy." Boone chuckles giving him a knowing wink. These two were stupid. Javi's arms wrap around me in a giant hug. I wasn't oblivious to the obvious feelings he has for me and it's not that I don't reciprocate those feelings in some small way. But....it's terrifying the idea of dating someone I work with. Regardless if this job is unconventional, at the end of the day....Javi is technically my boss. The night in Kansas flashes in my mind when his thumb brushes against my waist, a kiss that has replayed in my mind for weeks now. His subtle touch making my face flush with a deep blush.

"Javi.... " I whisper nervously.

"Are you riding with me today?"

I nod my head unable to think clearly.
