☁️ Cole Owens ☁️
I've never met a more irritating woman in my life. Mommy issues? Really? She has no idea what she's talking about and yet I've let her ruin my day with a few little words. I thought Ty was going to be the worst of these two weeks but no, it was that stunningly insane woman who I can't seem to get out of my head.
I'm throwing my bags into the backseat of Ty's truck a trailer attached to the back with dozens of yellow barrels. I decide to ignore it, my gaze wandering towards her door watching Javi walk out. I roll my eyes letting out a scoff. Ty follows my line of sight chuckling to himself. "Don't even think about it." He warns amused.
"Think about what?"
"Becks." He looks at me pointedly. I'm not sure what makes him believe that I would even think about Becks in any capacity besides being a royal pain in my ass.
"I'm not." I snap making it sound worse than I meant.
He lets out a whistle, "Keep telling yourself that." He pats my shoulder walking over to Kate who was standing on a patch of grass looking towards the sky.
I glance back over to see Becks walking out of her room, her gaze landing on mine for a brief moment before quickly darting away. Boone teases her and Javi about staying in the same room last night but she just ignores him and the way Javi was looking at her. It's clear that he wants so much more with her.
"Becks! You're riding with us." Ty calls after her. She steals a glance in my direction.
"Ty..." She's about to argue but he doesn't listen jogging over to take her backpack throwing it in the back with mine. "I need my genius with me." He smiles that Owens smile, the one that made just about any woman melt.
"Fine but if he vomits or says anything that pisses me off you're stopping the car and I'm riding with someone else." She warns, Ty gives her a grin like he doesn't believe her. "I'm serious Ty. One stupid thing from his mouth and I'm hoping out of the damn window."
"You said anything that pisses you off, now it's something stupid?" I question her, those honey eyes melting me on the spot.
"Stupidity pisses me off."
"So why are you hanging out with my brother?" I question sarcastically. Her lips desperately trying not to smile as the corners twitch fighting the urge. Ty smacks the back of my head.
"Hey." I groan rubbing the spot he slapped.
"Get in the truck." He orders looking at the both of us. We do as he says, piling into the backseat while he walks back over to get Kate. I watch Becks pull some things out of her teal backpack before she starts powering on her laptop, a composition notebook resting in the seat between us.
"What are you doing?" I question curiously.
"None of your business." She snaps before taking a deep breath glancing in my direction. "Sorry....I'm just a bit protective when it comes to my research, especially when I'm struggling to write a proposal. I don't need someone like you to make it worse."
I couldn't help feeling the bubble of intrigue forcing its way into my chest. "What research?"
She studies me for a moment debating in her head if telling me is actually a good idea or not. "I'm pretty sure I figured out how tornadoes form and created a near perfect algorithm that alerts you up to an hour before it should form and touch down."
I hate that I'm impressed right now. "So what's the problem then?"
"Like I said near perfect. I need more research and time. Which cost money, money I don't have. Which is why I need to write a proposal."
