At Rai's mansion:

“Subhadra,” Mrs. Rai said warmly, stepping forward to take her hand, “Welcome to our family.” Her grip was gentle, and her eyes held a kindness that Subhadra hadn’t expected. “We know this… wasn’t how you imagined things, but you’re a part of this family now.”

Mr. Rai nodded, his arms crossed but his tone gentle. “We’ve heard a lot about you from Arjun. That you both were childhood friends, We hope that you will find peace here, in this home.”

Subhadra forced a smile, grateful for their warmth but aware that Arjun’s presence beside her remained as cold as ever. He stood a step back, his arms folded, his gaze distant. He didn’t even attempt to make the moment easier for her or his family.

Arjun’s younger sister, Adya, appeared from behind her parents, her smile brighter and more genuine. She was full of energy and optimism, her joy seemingly unaffected by the tension that lingered between Arjun and Subhadra.

“Bhabhi!” Adya said cheerfully, rushing to hug Subhadra. “Finally, I have a sister! We’re so happy to have you here, even if the circumstances were a bit... unconventional.” She shot a pointed look at Arjun but quickly returned her focus to Subhadra. “We’ll have plenty of time to get to know each other.”

Arjun’s brother, Dhruv, stood by, more reserved but with a welcoming smile. “Bhabhi, we hope this house will become your home soon,” he said, giving her a nod of acknowledgment. “You’re one of us now.”

Subhadra felt a pang of gratitude for their kindness, but the weight of Arjun’s indifference still pressed down on her. His family was trying to smooth over the rough edges of this union, but Arjun was doing nothing to help them—or her.

As they stepped further into the mansion, Mrs. Rai gently touched Subhadra’s arm. “I know things may seem difficult now, but trust me, with time, you’ll settle in. We all will.”

Subhadra gave her a weak smile, unsure how to respond. The weight of her situation felt heavier with every passing second.

“Arjun,” Mr. Rai said, his voice firmer now as he addressed his son. “It’s time to move on. Riya is in the past. You’ve made your choice, and Subhadra is your wife now. We expect you to respect that, to respect her.”

There was a long silence, and Subhadra could feel Arjun’s anger simmering just beneath the surface. He remained silent, his eyes narrowed, refusing to meet anyone’s gaze.
As the day wore on, Subhadra found herself alone in the room that was now hers—now theirs, though Arjun hadn’t even bothered to step inside. She looked around, feeling lost. The grandeur of the mansion only served to remind her how alien this world was to her, how distant she felt from the life she had once known.

There was a soft knock at the door. Mrs. Rai entered, her face kind but concerned. “Subhadra, I wanted to make sure you’re comfortable,” she said gently. “I know this isn’t easy for you.”

Subhadra nodded, her throat tight. “Thank you, Auntie. I mean… Ma.”

Mrs. Rai smiled warmly. “You can call me whatever you like. But just know that we’re here for you. Whatever happens with Arjun, you’re part of this family now.”

Subhadra nodded again, her heart heavy with the weight of her new reality. She was grateful for their acceptance, but the void between her and Arjun was undeniable. She wasn’t just trying to navigate a new family—she was trying to survive a marriage that felt like a prison.

As Mrs. Rai left the room, Subhadra sat on the edge of the bed, staring at the door, wondering if Arjun would ever walk through it. Or if this coldness was all she could expect from him, forever.

Arjun :

Arjun moved through the silent corridors of the Rai mansion, his footsteps heavy, his mind clouded by a whirlwind of conflicting emotions. The echo of the marriage ceremony still clung to him like a shadow, but the weight in his chest wasn’t from the vows he had taken with Subhadra. It was from the memories he kept buried deep, in a place where no one—least of all his new bride—could reach.

He slipped through the hidden door to his secret room, a place where the world couldn’t touch him, and where his pain was his own. The dim light inside cast long shadows over the walls, walls adorned with pictures—snapshots of a time he had tried desperately to forget.

In every image, she stared back at him. The girl he had loved once. Her face—so familiar, so haunting. He had poured his heart into her once, and then she had walked away, leaving him hollow. His eyes swept over the photographs. The moments frozen in time seemed almost mocking now, taunting him with what could never be again.
