Part 9: Red All Around You

The family found themselves standing outside of Y/N's study as he sat inside talking with Powder. She sat in the large chair with Y/N knelt down talking softly to her. She looked almost dazed. Mumblings fluttering from her mouth. Alfred stood next to her having medical equipment examining her and dressing some minor wounds she had. The rest of the Family stood outside.

The K/DA girls looked towards the door and then back to the group noticing how much of the chatter had been reduced to silence. Lena was gone, taken home by Connor and M'gann. She wanted to know what was happening but it was clear that it was a rather sensitive topic so she took her leave. Tim rested against the wall sitting on the floor, his foot tapping trying to distract himself. Jason rested his weight against the wall his arms folded as he flipped his lighter between his fingers his hair falling in front of his face.

Dick was sat next to Damien rubbing his back gently while the young teen simply rested his elbows on his knees his fingers interlaced over his mouth. He stared on with an extremely hard stare as his eyes were red. The minute he saw Jinx he had almost completely shut down. He didn't speak or make a sound. He just stared on.

Ahri looked to Evelynn and then to Barb. Barbara sighed and wheeled her way down the corridor and gestured for the K/DA girls to follow her. "Come, lets give the boys some space." She gestured as the girls would nod and follow.

They walked silently towards the kitchen as Barbara moved to the counter and tapped a button on her wheelchair as it clamped around her waist and helped her to stand. She grunted a bit before she slowly moved her legs to move and walk around being supported by the wheelchair behind her.

"Woah thats... awesome." Akali spoke staring at the fun tech as she chuckled a bit. Barbara smiled and got some items ready preparing tea knowing everyone would need something to drink for now.

"Thanks. Developed the tech myself."

Kai'sa rested against the counter as she turned to Barbara. "So umm, who is she? Bruce never spoke about anyone other than the boys. Is she-"

"His daughter. Damien's Twin... It's a really long story. But the short of it was that she went away on a trip with some friends. It was discovered that she never made it to the airport. We searched high and low for weeks to no avail. Then we found remains. Supposedly hers."

Ahri brought her hand to her mouth hearing that Y/N and his family had gone through such a horrific trauma. Barbara rested her hands on the counter and sighed.

"It destroyed them. It broke Y/N. I saw him retreat into the cave. Stay there for months. He didn't know how to keep fighting. He lost his daughter. And that was all three years ago. She was just 14 and had only just began her training. That poor girl... she looks so different."

"I must imagine Y/N is rather elated to see she is alive." Evelynn spoke as Barbara put on an odd forced smile. "Am I wrong?"

"You're not. Its just... If she's been a live all this time and was only able to come back now? It's strange timing. For all we know she may not be the same Powder we all knew. She may be under someones control. Or convinced that her family... All I know is Y/N is going to go off the rails when she starts opening up about what happened to her. I've seen marks like those before." She said and placed all the items on the tray as she slowly sat back down and wheeled towards the group in the hallways once more.

The girls followed as Barbara would practically force cups of tea into everyones hands. The only one who opened their mouths was Dick thanking her and kissing her hand. The others just nodded. Their faces dark and stern.

The handle to the office shifted before the door opened. Alfred walked out with a heavy sigh.

"Miss Powder is alright. She's just bruised and dehydrated. Health wise she would afford to eat some more but later on that matter. You may enter. Though I recommend keeping a hushed tone. She's... A bit unstable..." He said gesturing them in and thanking Barbara for taking care of the tea.
