ANDREA

The plans for my friends and me go very well. We meet up at Caroline's apartment because her roommate had a date. All of us are dressed up, and we have assortments of food. A romcom played on the television the whole time as the three of us caught up on our lives. With my shift at the library and living with Miles, we didn't hang out much. Not that I didn't like the way the course of my life was going now, just that I missed my friends.

"So," Jennifer says, grabbing another chocolate-covered strawberry. "How's your pregnancy?"

"It's going good," I answer honestly. These days I've been less prone to irration and mood swings, and it also helped for me to not have to throw up. "I don't have many symtpoms anymore going into my second trimester. But I hear the third one gets worse."

"Oh no," Caroline says with an aninamred frown. "It's okay. That means you should enjoy this period."

"Ooh speaking of," Jennifer says, rubbing her hands together, food all forgotten, which only meant this was exciting for her. No one ever drops their food. "We saw you at the hockey game. We saw clips of you sitting over Miles in the rink, worried that he wouldn't wake up."

The memory of that night makes me sad to think about, so I try to push it out of my mind. If I start to think about it, I start crying. I guess that was a symptom that I hadn't gotten over yet.

"Yeah," I say softly. "We wanted me there to record for his daughter, and I didn't really want to go. But I went with his insistence, and then I caught his fall on camera. Honesty couldn't have been more of a scarier moment."

"That sucks," Jennifer says. "And I really do hope that Miles is okay. He is out of hockey right now, right?"

"He is," I answer, grabbing another strawberry. "He cannot play until he is better, and for a while there he was sulking in bed, but I got him out of bed."

"I couldn't imagine he would've liked for you to get him out of bed," Caroline says, and I look up because her tone was unfamiliar. Then I see the lightness in her eyes, which makes me know that she was making a suggestive comment. That makes my cheeks flush, and Caroline only shrugs, "Kind of think that he would've liked you to give him more reasons to stay in bed."

"Caroline!," I throw the half-eaten strawberry at her, and it falls by her feet. I'm gaping at her, and Jennifer pretends to scold my friend. "You can't say that!" Jen says and then glances at me. "Without asking her if they are together again."

That makes me choke on air, and Jennifer cracks into laughter. After my cough attack, I straighten out my shoulders and try to play it cool. "It's my life with Miles; I don't have to tell you guys what happened."

"Okay, I guess," Caroline says with a sigh, but then I watch her doe eyes widen as my words register in her mind. "Oh my God!" she shouts abruptly. "You said you don't have to tell us what happened. That means something happened! Tell us now."

"Now it's not like you can't. You have to!" Jen agrees, bopping her head as she moves closer to me.

I laugh, standing up from the couch and walking away. "I don't kiss and tell, girls." I sing a song, and my words make both of them jump off and follow me around like a puppy. I clean up my mess on the counter and then look at Caroline. "Can I take some of these home? I haven't liked anything as much as these."

Carline glances down at her sugar cookies and shrugs. "Fine, but you have to tell me about your kiss with Miles."

"How was it?" Jen asks. "Like, was it awkward or was it too fast and unappealing? How did he kiss you?"
