ANDREA

Miles hasn't talked to me in this tone ever since Evie was born.

I quirk an eyebrow at the nerve that he has and look at him with narrowed eyes. "Sorry, what was that?"

Miles' face changes from the stern look to a baffling mess. "Oh, sorry," he says, shaking his head. "I didn't mean to—I'm not trying to manhandle you." He looks shocked at the fact that the moment happened and at how I actually think he was trying to control me.

I look at his face and then very slowly at his hand on my arm, gripping me tightly. I watch his face drop, and it makes me roll my eyes. "Yeah," I say, feeling his hand drop from my arm. I swing my arm back and turn away from him. I start to head out of the room this time, but I feel him following after me.

"Andrea, I still need to talk to you, sweetheart." I hear him calling out behind me. I run a hand through my hair, shrugging as I say, "There is nothing for us to talk about."

"Yes, there is; come on," he says, catching up to me. "No, we don't," I say quickly, continuing to walk toward the bathroom. When I pull on the door and turn to enter, I find Miles looking at me. He gives me a look, his eyes studying my face. "Andrea, I need to talk to you."

"There isn't anything to talk about," I say again and close the door in his face. But when I lean against the door, I feel my thoughts rushing through my head. At what could have happened in our room and how much I had been looking forward to it. I take a few breaths in and out of my mouth, trying to relieve the tension building in my body. After I use the bathroom, I head out to the kitchen.

I'm trying to find myself something to eat when Miles walks in with Evie in his arms. He still hasn't found his shirt yet, so he was shirtless. I look away from his arms and instead find the way he was staring at me. "What? She needs feeding or something?"

"No, she is good," he says, not even bothering to look down at her. He is still staring at me. I clear my throat. "You need something then?"

"Yeah, I need an explanation as to what happened in the bedroom."

"I wanted to have sex with the man I am in love with, but you had to go and ruin it," I blurt out, still feeling an ounce of anger toward him. The same feeling I felt as soon as the moment broke in the bedroom.

"I want to have sex with you as well," he answers without missing a beat. Then he looks at me sideways and says, "But what do you mean?"

"Nothing," I say quickly. "Okay, I'm not in the mood anymore."

"It's not like I'm trying to take you here right now," he says with a look, but I see the real emotion in his eyes. Then he sighs, "I'm just trying to figure out what's going on with you, Andrea."

"Nothing," I say, but then throw my hands up with a sigh. "Everything. You know how I feel."

"I thought I did," he says, squinting at me. "But now I cannot figure you out."

"Well," I say with a shrug. "Maybe we just lost touch then."

"I don't think that's it," he says, resting Evie on his hip, which looks ridiculous, and my baby girl is dangling from him. His eyes catch mine as he says, "There is something you aren't being open with me about."

"I'm not," I say, and then shrug. "Your shift starts in under 2 hours, so you should probably head to bed if you want to get some rest."

I'm dismissing him, grabbing for my daughter. He gives me a look, retracting Evie from my arm. "I don't care about sleep."
