Christmas Day, 1994

"HEY GUYS."

Fred grinned at Angelina, adjusting his cuff links as the girl arrived, looping arms with George as Alicia linked her arm through Fred's. Lee was arm in arm with Camille who smiled widely at Angelina's dress, gushing in french. Ethan was stood just off to the side with Cedric and Cho, Fred watched him with slight distaste.

It wasn't that he didn't like Ethan Hawke. He was just madly jealous that he'd managed to get to go to the ball with his best friend.

If he could even call her that anymore. The last month had been a whirlwind for the usually calm and collected Weasley twin.

Every time he'd even looked at Astra, a strange feeling had erupted in his chest. Every laugh, every smile sent his way sent him into a sort of daze, his whole attention on what she had to say.

Now he had always paid attention to her but not like this. He now noticed the dimples that appeared when she smiled, the way she clapped excitedly as she laughed, the fact that her nails always had variations of tiny flowers or stars on her acrylics.

It made him nervous around her, and it confused him. But he was sure of something. It had pissed him off when Ethan asked her. Something in him had erupted in irritation when she'd accepted, jealousy. Something he wasn't fond of.

Fred shook his head quickly as Alicia poked him in the arm, Angelina pointing to the top of the stairs as Astra appeared.

A stunned expression fell over his face, overwhelmed by her beauty. He stared at her as she descended the stairs, a small smile on her face as she picked up the sky-blue dress that floated around her ankles as she stepped her way down, white heels poking out the bottom.

Fred snapped out of his daze and watched with a heavy heart as Ethan stepped forward and said something that they couldn't hear, extending a hand which she accepted gracefully with a smile, the kind that took him by heart. His mind took him to another place, where they were alone.

She stared up, into his eyes, reaching up to pull his collar down. His eyes closed as her lips pressed against his, feeling her soft hands link behind his neck as he held her back with his own, pulling her closer -

"Hi guys."

Fred blinked as Astra spoke, a wide smile gracing her face as she and Ethan approached the girls.

"You look beautiful." He spoke quietly, Astra flushing lightly at the compliment before Lee wolf whistled.

"Christ, and I thought I had the best looking date."

They all laughed, Alicia mock-hitting him, as they entered the hall. It had changed dramatically from this morning when they had had breakfast. Fred watched as Astra's eyes widened, her hand enclosed around Ethan as she gazed around at the whole atmosphere.

His face dropped slightly unconsciously, not noticing the raised eyebrows that their friends were sending each other.
