January 1995

"ASTRA, I NEED A FAVOUR..."

Astra raised her head, glancing down at her final sentence before meeting Fred's pleading eyes and narrowing her own. 

"What is it?"

"...Can you help me with the shield charm for DA?" He grinned sheepishly, aware that she was currently doing her Herbology essay on the effects of Mistletoe but also painfully aware that Moody wanted this perfected and he was no where near done. 

The girl blinked slowly, moving her eye-line from the essay to the boy and back again. 

"Chocolate frog?" He offered her quickly, Astra still not answering but merely looking at him with a deadpan expression. There was a pause, then she grinned, taking the chocolate.

"Yeah fine, I was just checking it over, I've been done. Let's go to the ROR."

She quickly dried the ink and rolled the essay up, sending her parchment and ink soaring neatly into her bag before Astra bit the frogs head off, gesturing with her head at the door. 

The two friends wandered to the third floor, chatting about the charm itself, why Fred was having issues, until they reached, entering the magical door and seeing a large open space with numerous physical shields around the room and test dummies dotted around the room. 

Astra dumped her bag near the door and, with a flick of her wrist and a mutter, the fire roared up, filling both students with warmth as they removed their robes and the girl lifted her hair into a ponytail. 

"Right. Let's do this. Expelliarmius!"

The boy wasn't ready by any means so his wand soared out of his hand across the room. 

Astra tutted and summoned the wand, throwing it back to him. 

"Let's try again. Impendimenta!" 

Fred was ready this time and did his best to produce a corporal shield charm but it was feeble and the spell was merely slowed down as it passed the wobbly shield, hitting the wall opposite. 

The Weasley twin gritted his teeth as Astra raised an eyebrow, sending a stunning spell his way.

After about an hour and a half, Fred finally mastered it, both friends covered in a layer of sweat and breathing hard but wide grins on their faces. 

"One last time, stupefy!" 

This time Fred's shield charm did make her spell shoot backwards, across the room and hitting one of the test dummies. Astra's smile broadened and she turned around delightedly, running to Fred and jumping into his arms. 

"You did it!"

Both friends laughed hysterically as they spun around, sighing as Fred put her down, raising an eyebrow and looking slightly flushed as he did so. 

"Thank you so much. Now Moody won't kill me."

"Apparation?"

Astra looked up at Angelina's intrigued comment as they walked inside the common room, the latter dropping her bag in front of the fire as the former wandered over to the notice board with Fred.
