Lots of angst. Some fluff. They might kiss kiss fall in love but who knows.
It's gonna be okay, it's gonna be okay... she repeats to herself as she sits on the cold stone bench, nervously tapping her foot on the ground as she waits in the courtyard of the Alchemy Commission. She ignores the slight pain and soreness in various parts of her body from the most recent battle, the only thing on her mind was him. It felt like years since the last time she saw Jiaoqiu. But that was before....
She shakes her head in an attempt to rid her mind of such regretful thoughts. Come on Alira, keep it together. She feels a gentle touch on her shoulder and turns to look at Stelle sitting beside her. Stelle smiles reassuringly, giving Alira's shoulder a gentle squeeze.
"Relax, Alira. He's gonna be fine."
Alira takes a deep breath, trying to convince her body to relax, but it doesn't obey. She runs a hand through her hair anxiously, "He's alive, but I'm still worried... Who knows what he's been through, especially these last couple days..." She trails off, imagining the fear and helplessness he's felt after being held captive by Hoolay. A pang hits her heart with such force, her eyes well with tears. She closes her eyes and takes a shaky breath.
Stelle's expression softens and she pulls her friend into a hug, holding her head against her chest. "Oh Alira... It's okay. Cry if you need to, I'm here. I've got you." As though on cue, a choked sob shakes Alira's body. She wraps her arms around Stelle and silently weeps. Stelle holds her, stroking her hair comfortingly as she cries. After quite some time, her sobs cease, leaving her with tear-stained cheeks and puffy eyes. She slowly pulls herself out of Stelle's embrace and sniffles, wiping any remaining tears from her face.
"Man I'm such a mess lately," she says softly.
Stelle laughs, "I think anyone would be in this situation." She studies her friend's expression calmly for a moment before continuing, "You really care about him, don't you?"
Alira blushes and looks away shyly. "....I don't know what you're talking about."
Stelle rolls her eyes and playfully punches her shoulder. "Oh come on, don't go getting all bashful on me. I'm not trying to embarrass you." She pauses for a moment, her tone more thoughtful, "I was just thinking about how you're so good for each other in every way."
Alira defiantly rolls her eyes, "Whatever."
Stelle chuckles and is about to make another comment when the gates to the Alchemy Commission suddenly open and Moze walks out, coming in their direction.
Alira quickly stands up as he approaches. "How is he?"
Moze sighs and shakes his head. "He's fine. He has some minor injuries, but it definitely could have been worse."
Alira breathes a sigh of relief and finally allows the corner of her lips to turn upwards. "That's a relief. Hopefully he won't have to stay here for too long then, right?"
Moze shakes his head, looking oddly disappointed. "Alira, there's... something else too." He pauses for a moment and softly continues, "The poison he took... it attacked his optical nerves."
Alira's eyes widen, "What are you saying?"
Moze looks her in the eyes, his expression regretful as he responds, "He's... blind. We're not sure if it's reversible or not."
Alira stands frozen in shock, not sure how to react. A million thoughts swirl through her mind. He's blind? It could have been worse... He's alive, but we wont' be able to watch the sunsets together anymore....
