After the group call I got back on the road and drove home
"I gotta call Nana and send her that Christmas check..."
I hadn't seen my grandma since the beginning of the year and I'd just realized cause I hadn't been alone with my thoughts for a while...schedules,school,work...Kaylanì
As I was about to take a turn , I saw what looked like a woman with a baby in her arms sitting by the bus stop...my heart started hurting as I remembered that cold night when I left Beatrice's house...I remember begging God to send help and wishing my daddy hadn't died on me
Without hesitating,I stopped my car.
I wanted to help.
Clutching my thermal jacket I jogged to where they were seated...if I can feel the cold through my thick ass jacket imagine how it must be for them
"Uhm Hi...this is strange but would you like me to take yall to a warmer place?I know a few that take in women and children"
The woman looked like she was in her early 40s,she was freshly groomed and her braids were clean and still in place
Seemed like they had been put out recently...
"Hi...we already checked during the day,everywheres full..." she replied hesitantly, holding on to her wheezing baby
"I know one you might've missed
You can get help for your baby there"
It was starting to rain a little so I held my collar up to cover my face
"She won't get better out here
Please"
"We really don't want to take time out of your day...can you give me the direct?"
Looking down in shame while rocking her baby,she reminded me of kayla and I....
"I insist
It's no good out here,you'll walk all day"
Walking over to my car and opening the backdoors
I watched as she hesitated some more while sighing and looking around in disbelief...you could tell she was new to the situation
After about 2 minutes of waiting she finally got in
The drive was really quiet
I decided to break the silence
"Sooo...my names Keyanah
What's yours?" I asked
"I'm Deborah this is my daughter Diane....
Thank you for picking us up..."
"Please ,don't even mention it
I couldn't let yall freeze out...on Christmas"
We both chuckled
"And...we're here"
Parking in the driveway I got out of my car and opened the doors for them to get in
I knew about this shelter through Briyanna ,it was ran by the White's and she was doing charity work here sometimes
"Thank you so much...I..I don't know how to thank you"
"Here- have my business card...feel free to call me if you need help
And I mean for anything "

After driving home to get Kayla,food and the gifts I drove over to Jaelams house where we were having the get together.
Everybody was supposed to bring a dish they cooked I brought dirty rice,beef ribs,sticky wings, banana pudding and candied yams
Kayla was in the guests room taking a nap while me and Jaelam put up decorations and the rest of the gifts under the tree.
JAELAM'S POV
Me and Keyanah was done setting up the house and I was on the phone with Cassie tryna see what up with her
"So you really finna avoid me?"
I could hear her breathing on the other side of the phone,almost as if she was scared or being hunted down
"Jaelam I'm not avoiding you...it's just some things I heard about you that don't sit well with me..."
Here comes the bullshit. again .
"Man who been feeding you lies and shit about me?
I thought we talked about this Cas"
I could feel myself getting angry,it was always something with these bitches
Like why you can't break up with me properly???why you gotta lie and say you heard or seen something that made you unhappy???
"Jae I...I can't say
It's scary and that don't sit well with me"
She replied in a weird tone
I'd never heard her speak like this
"You know what Cassie?"
"Fuck you
Fuck that
And have a Merry fucking Christmas and and Happy fucking new year
It's over.
Don't ever call me again or text me or come to my crib , none of that shit
Imma have your rags sent to you don't come over wanting to collect shit!"

I ended the call before she could say something else to piss me off fucking more
Closing my eyes and taking a deep breath
I realized it wasn't a bitch in this whole wide world that would ruin my Christmas
