House: Hufflepuff

Remus Lupin and I were very close friends, but a small part of me wanted to be something more. He was so kind and caring towards me, the two of us often being found in each others company which often led to teasing my his close friends. He'd always roll his eyes but I did notice a spot of blush on his cheeks every time which made me hope that there was a chance he'd feel the same way, but I didn't want to read too much into it so I decided to distance myself from the idea and simply focus on our close friendship.

We took the same classes so were often found sat at the same desk, reading from the same books or working on our homework together in the library in preparation for our upcoming NEWTs. We were also both prefects, so we often went on our evening rounds together and I knew for a fact Black and Potter enjoyed teasing Remus about that, making suggestive comments that we were not in fact doing our prefect duties. I tried to laugh these suggestions off but they always made my heart race and I couldn't help it.

"Before seventh year I didn't think Slughorn was as intense as he is," I admitted as Remus and I wondered the castle at 23:00, making sure nobody was out past their curfew.

"He's gotten pretty full on, but I think he just wants us to do well," he shrugged. I glanced up at Remus, the flames from the braziers we walked past casting a luminous glow around him making him look even more handsome. I had to quickly snap my head back in the direction we were walking to try and distract myself, an action which didn't go unnoticed by the man himself. "You okay?"

"Yeah I'm fine," I said quickly.

"It's a nice night, why don't we patrol outside?" He suggested, gesturing the doors that led to the ____. "Have you heard from your parents recently?" Remus had met my parents on Platform 9 3/4 last year when we boarded the Hogwarts Express for the start of our seventh year. Naturally they embarrassed me, outright telling him that I apparently spoke about him all the time. They seemed to take quite the shine to him, and it helped that he too was polite and willing to speak with them.

"Yeah I got a letter yesterday. They're doing okay..." I muttered, although I wasn't sure that was truly the case.

"I feel like there's a 'but' coming on," Remus said and I sighed, nodding.

"They were approached again. Just because dad was in Slytherin doesn't mean that they want to be Death Eaters! How are the Ministry not doing more to protect them, both he and mum have given their lives work to them- sorry," I muttered, pinching the bridge of my nose. Remus suddenly took ahold of my shoulders and turned me to look at him, a comforting spark in his brown eyes.

"The world's in utter chaos right now. Things will be okay, your parents have invented spells, they're strong. That's probably why they're of interest to the Death Eaters... to You-Know-Who. Try not to worry too much," he assured me and I couldn't help but hug him, an action I was relieved he returned.

"Thanks Remus," I whispered, our heads pulling away so we could look at each other but our arms remained wrapped around each other. I saw his eyes glance down at my lips quickly, his Adams apple bobbing. I gave a subtle nod, my heart racing and he leant in, gently placing his lips on mine. I couldn't help but smile against his lips as we kissed passionately, our eyes closed and simply basking in the warmth of each other.

Our lips pulled apart but our foreheads remained pressed against each others as we caught our breath. We both smiled at each other and let out a relieved laugh, us both apparently unsure whether at first the other reciprocated our feelings. "That was nice," he muttered and I giggled.

"'Nice'?"

"Really good," he admitted and I bit my lip.

"Yeah it was," I whispered. "Would you... er... be my boyfriend?" I asked hesitantly but his smile comforted me.
