House: Slytherin

These were dark times we lived in. You-Know-Who was rising, seemingly unstoppable and spreading an unhealthy message throughout all of wizard-kind. The students at Hogwarts were, despite being under the protection of the infamous school, still in danger from his ideologies that were presented in the Daily Prophet. I was a pureblood witch but refused the villainous ideologies the man believed in, unfortunately unlike some of the others in my house.

My family and I wanted to support what was right, we wanted to support equality and rights for freedom so I went out of my way to befriend muggle-borns, and one ended up becoming my closest friend despite her being in the year above me. Lily Evans was an incredibly kind witch, fiercely loyal and we looked out for each other constantly, especially whenever the Gang of Slytherin's tried to butt their stinky noses in our lives and bully us, sometimes even try and hex us.

From Lily I had become friends with Remus, the three of us forming a study group in the library, even if it was just the three of us. Remus was easy to get along with and very intelligent, especially when it came to DADA. He'd help me with a lot of my essays, telling me about how he remembered writing his own the previous year. Lily and Remus' other friends took a little bit longer to warm to me but eventually they got to know me, and seemed like nice people but they weren't as interested in studying as we were. There were times James would visit just to flirt with Lily who I knew liked him back, and I'd constantly tease her about it however she liked to tease me back about the person I had feelings for.

Regulus Black was a fellow Slytherin and in my year. He was charming, good-looking, rarely cracked a smile but when he did it was a heavenly sight. I had fallen head over heels for the quiet boy but it was obvious that he wasn't interested in any form of romantic relationships, as far as I knew he hadn't ever had a partner. He didn't have too many friends either, but he would talk to me as though I was a friend even though I wanted to be more.

"It's been months (y/n), are you ever going to do anything about your feelings?" Lily asked openly one day in the library whilst she, Remus and I were studying. My body went rigid, immediately knowing what she was talking about but also wondering if she had realised she had spoken openly in front of Remus.

"What feelings?" Remus asked, glancing between the two of us but before I could warn Lily not to say more she blurted it out.

"Her feelings for Regulus," she said and panicked flooded my body. I knew Remus and Regulus' brother Sirius were very close.

"Regulus? As in Sirius' brother?" He asked looking over to me and I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose.

"She's been crushing on him for ages now-,"

"Thank you Lily," I interrupted her and she smirked mischievously. "Potter is having a bad influence on you. Fine, it's true... I may have developed a small crush on Regulus," I whispered and Lily laughed.

"Small? She talks about him all the time-,"

"Lily!"

"Wow, I had no idea. Does he know?" Remus asked.

"I'm surprised you're even interested," I huffed and he shrugged. "No I don't think so. Please don't tell him... or Sirius for that matter," I wagged my finger at him and he put his hands up defensively.

"Scouts honour," he said making me chuckle. "Why don't you just tell him?"

"Oh c'mon, admitting feelings isn't exactly the easiest thing in the world, especially when the person you have feelings for doesn't seem interested in dating. Haven't you got secrets you're too scared to tell people?" I challenged and both he and Lily stiffened up slightly, glancing between each other. "What?"
