Dear Ms. Andrews,
First of all, I was not aware of Holly's behavior in your class, and I thank you for bringing it to my attention. However, if you'll forgive me for being frank, I can completely understand why she refuses to give a backward-thinking woman such as yourself any dose of respect, seeing as you have none for her or for me. Holly's father's lack of presence in her life is absolutely none of your business, but if you must know, he died of lung cancer when Holly was only a year old, and I haven't had the opportunity or interest in pursuing any romantic interests since, not that I need to justify that, or anything else, to you. I have done my absolute best as a single mother to raise my daughter as I see fit, and seeing as my son is now a well-respected computer programmer, I'd say I've done a pretty damn good job so far.
If you wish to continue to insult my family, then proceed at your own caution. I do not take kindly to people who insult me or my family, and I will ensure that you never hear the end of it.
The saddest thing about this is, my husband used to be a science teacher. He cared about his students, and was genuinely passionate about chemistry, which he taught. While I find it incredibly hard to believe, I can see how in your own demented way, you care for Holly, and I try my hardest to appreciate that.
I wish my husband could've been alive to teach my daughter science, so that she could have had a genuine passion for it instilled within her, but nope, his work cost him his life, while people like you sit back and judge those of us who have the misfortune to be widowed. I will promise you that I will do whatever is in my power to have Holly removed from your class and taught by a competent teacher.
Most Sincerely,
Skyler Lambert
