19. Get Lost!

{sorry for disappearing for so long. I had exams so I didn't get time to write.   I might give slow updates but I will try to update as much as possible. Maybe one chapter per week. I can't tell for sure. But I will try.}

Never in his life did Wei Wuxian think he could experience boredom and amusement at the same time. Copying scriptures sure is boring as hell but what's amusing is being in the same room with Lan Wangji. That too alone. Just the thought made Wei Wuxian feel giddy all over. Now sitting right in front of Lan Wangji and stealing a glimpse every now and then is quite interesting and entertaining. 

Lan Wangji, too, checked up on Wei Wuxian from time to time and reminded him to copy the rules if he was slacking off for too long. Anyone would find these remainders annoying. However, for Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji's remainders felt more enjoyable than the deafening silence in the library.

It's not that Wei Wuxian didn't want to talk. In fact, he started chattering as soon as he got to the library and found Lan Wangji already there waiting for him. It went on for an hour before he was shut up by the Gusu Lan clan's silencing spell that stopped his seemingly endless chatter. After that, he sat there copying the rules for some time before he got bored and went around to look at the library. Even after exploring for a while, he didn't find any books that could pick his interest. Defeated, he came back to his desk to start copying again.

He sat down and picked up the brush. However, he couldn't focus on it. As soon as his eyes found Lan Wangji, he had the sudden urge to annoy him. "Wangji Xiong." He called out but Lan Wangji remained motionless.

"Wangji." He again called out yet got no reaction from Lan Wangji.

"Lan Wangji." Still nothing. Lan Wangji appeared as if he didn't hear anything.

"Lan Zhan!" He exclaimed a bit loudly.

Lan Wangji finally stopped writing and looked at Wei Wuxian with a cold gaze. Wei Wuxian suddenly felt a bit intimidated by the cold gaze he got. He slightly shifted backward and laughed nervously as he spoke, "Don't give me that look. I only called you by your name because you didn't answer me when I called you Wangji. If you're upset, you can call me by my name too."

"Put your legs down." Lan Wangji spoke.

Wei Wuxian's posture is extremely improper with a slanted back and his legs propped up. One could say his posture is one of the worst ones known to mankind. Listening to Lan Wangji's words, he chuckled inside and immediately put his legs down. However, he leaned closer, pressed his arms onto the desk, and looked at Lan Wangji, who was sitting just opposite him. His sitting posture is still not proper but Lan Wangji didn't comment on it.

He then spoke in a serious tone, "Lan Zhan. Let me ask you something. Do you... really hate me that much?"

Lan Wangji looked down while Wei Wuxian hurriedly spoke, "Hey, don't be like this, ignoring me after saying so few words. I want to admit my fault and apologize to you. Lan Zhan, look at me."

After a pause, he spoke again, "So, you don't want to look at me? Alright then. I'll just start talking. I was wrong. It was my fault that night. I shouldn't have drunk alcohol. I shouldn't have climbed the wall and shouldn't have fought with you. But I swear! I was not trying to provoke you then. It's just that I really didn't see the sect rules. In the Jiang sect, all the rules are told verbally and not written down. Or else, I wouldn't have done that."

Of course, he wouldn't have done that. Rather, he would've secretly tucked it away and carried it to his room, drinking it little by little every day and sharing it with everyone.

He then continued, "Alright, let's be reasonable. Which of us attacked first? It was you. If you didn't, we could've talked nicely and cleared everything up, right? However if someone hits me, I would've to hit back. This is not totally my fault. Lan Zhan, are you listening? Look at me. Second brother Lan, why don't you do me a favor and look at me?"
