Misunderstandings Part 2

"And who exactly did Helena cheat with?" A tall, fierce looking guy hovered over Helena, causing me to flinch. His eyes were the type that would stare deep into one's soul.

Helena looked up at the guy smiling, "She's taking things out of proportion." She said calmly looking at my stunned face. "Oh right! Amie, this is my boyfriend, Jake. Jake, this is my best friend, Amie!"

"Nice to meet you..." I mumbled. How exactly could Helena think about cheating on such a scary guy, why did she even decide to go out with such a scary guy? I kept thinking, as he pulled a chair to the desk.

"Same here," he replied. "Back on topic though, since when did my Helena become a cheater?"

I looked down at my hands thinking about all the future problems I would have started. What if he hit her because of this, he surely looked like he could.

"I think Amie heard wrong." she looked over to Jake. "It isn't like that between me and Niro. I mean he only stays over at my house sometimes and yea we share a bed but really it's no problem."

I stared at Helena slack jawed and dumbfounded. Was she trying to dig her own grave? Did she forget her seriously scary boyfriend was next to her?

"Who the hell is this Niro guy?!?!" Jake shouted frustrated, which caused quite a few of our classmates to look around.

My Helena was doing drugs, that had to be it, because while I sat terrified of her boyfriend's temper, she just laughed. And it wasn't your average laugh, it was like someone had just told her the funniest thing ever!

"I think you both should come over after school to meet him," she said in between laughter. "Hopefully he's still there."

Jake and I looked at each other completely embarrassed. I was embarrassed over that fact that I thought my best friend of 8 years was leading some sort of loose double life but Jake...I could see how dumb he felt.

Helena carried a very fluffy calico coloured cat in her arms, Niro. "You both are so cute!" she laughed seeing how we wore our emotions on our faces. "See, he's a stray and my mum always makes a huge fuss all the time. It really doesn't matter to me if he sleeps in my bed or not, but she always chases him away."

"I see..." I mumbled. This made a lot more sense and was way more in Helena's character.

"I began telling you this at lunch but you seemed to have gotten the wrong idea!" she giggled.

"I'm sorry," I apologized. "I couldn't get past the fact that you were cuddling with someone other than your boyfriend. Ahh soo embarrassing!" I exclaimed.

The entire time Jake stood there quiet probably still shocked that his rival was a stray cat.
