It was the weekend and my family and I were going to the beach around nine in the morning.

"Why is the beach so far?" My younger brother, Aren, complained. "I preferred it when we lived at that other house! I could walk there."

"Who likes walking to the beach you crazy. An early morning drive is so much nicer." I said.

"But its taking forever...." He moaned. Aren, age fourteen, always acted childish and somehow always got his way. We were our mother's only two children, while we had an older stepbrother from our dad's previous marriage called, Henry. He was a great older brother but he hardly came over. Our mum always said he was a bad influence on us, yet I couldn't see why. If you ignored the fact that he was a chain smoker and an avid gamer, he was absolutely amazing! Or maybe it was just me and Aren.

For some reason, I just happened to be staring out of the car window to see the guy in the car coming in the opposite direction spit outside his window. "Oh gross!!" I exclaimed in disgust. "What a dirty freak!"

"What happened??" Aren leaned over me trying to see out my window.

"That dirty creep in the red Subaru spat outside his window! Ughhh so disgusting..." I cringed.

"What's wrong with splitting outside?" Aren asked, "I do it all the time." He leaned out of his window spitting, but it just ran down the outside of the window.

"You dirty dick!"

"Amie," my mother said sternly. "Watch your language."

"Are you kidding me?" I said. "He just spat outside the window being a total nub and you're telling me to watch my language? Reaaaally??"

"Boys will be boys," she said.

"Boys being boys my bum," I mumbled. "This would be a different story if I had done that!"

"So you're okay with stooping to a fourteen year old's level?" She questioned me.

"Of course I am!" I began pouting.

"Ha!" Aren joked.

Sometimes he really pissed me off. Or maybe it was just me with the temper. I'm so glad I never had to put up with him when my friends were around... Knowing the way I am, I may have lost them all, except Helena of course.

"You know when I was your age," my mother began.

"Oh geez...." Aren and I groaned in unison.

Our mum looked through the rearview mirror, rolling her eyes at us before continuing. "I think I was around twelve or so when I went on car drives with your aunt, Sera and my dad. Like you Amie, I'd sit behind my dad's seat while Sera would sit behind mum. It was an early morning just like today and the word coming through the window was soo cool. I don't know why I did it at that time, looking back now I wish I hadn't. But I stuck my head out through the window so the breeze would blow against my face stronger."

I could feel a smile slowly stretching across my face. I liked where this was going.

"At the same time I heard my dad spit, but it didn't register in my mind that he did it out of the window. Next thing I knew a mass of wetness hit me square in the face."

Aren and I began laughing nonstop. "Loooool!!!!" I exclaimed.

"Since then,I never stuck my head out of the car window every again. That and I always keep my window up."

Somehow how I couldn't stop laughing. I could feel tears running from my eyes as I tried to breath.

"Is that why you suffocate me in the back? All because of that, haha!" Aren blurted out.

"That..must've been soooo awful..." I finally said after catching my breath.

"We're here!" My dad said over our laughter.

"Finally!" Aren exclaimed opening the car door, even before the car fully parked. "I'm outta here!"
