Zenitsu sat in the student lounge, fidgeting with his phone while his friends lounged around him. His hands were clammy, and he kept glancing around the room nervously, half expecting something to jump out at him.

"Hey, Zenitsu, you okay?" one of his friends, Tanjiro, teased, nudging him with an elbow. "You look like you’ve seen a ghost."

Zenitsu jumped slightly, eyes wide. "N-no! I’m fine! Totally fine!" he stammered, his voice shaky. "Why? Did you see something? Is there something behind me?!"

His other friend, Inosuke, snorted. "Dude, relax. You’re always so jumpy! It’s just a normal day. No monsters, no demons. You’re safe, Zenitsu. Chill out for once."

Zenitsu wiped his forehead, the beads of sweat making it hard to believe him. "I-I know that! I’m not scared! I’m just… uh… on edge, that’s all!"

"Right," Tanjiro smirked, leaning back in his chair. "On edge. Sure. You know, for someone who’s always freaking out, you’re pretty good at sticking around. Most people would’ve dropped out of college with your nerves."

"Hey!" Zenitsu protested weakly. "I’m not that bad!"

"You’re pretty bad," Inosuke said, chuckling. "Remember that time we went to the haunted house for Halloween? You screamed louder than the kids!"

Zenitsu's face turned red. "T-that was different! That place was actually haunted! I swear I felt something grab my leg!"

Tanjiro and Inosuke exchanged amused glances. "Sure, Zenitsu. Whatever you say."

Zenitsu pouted, crossing his arms. "You guys are the worst," he muttered, but there was no real heat behind his words. Despite their teasing, he knew they cared about him.

One evening, they gathered for a game of truth or dare at one of their usual hangouts. The night had started off light, with harmless dares and embarrassing truths. However, as the drinks flowed and the night wore on, the dares grew more daring. Zenitsu had the misfortune of picking "dare" after being pressured into it.

"Alright, Zenitsu," Aoi said with a smirk. "We dare you to summon a demon."

The color drained from Zenitsu's face as his friends laughed. He stammered, "Wh-what? A d-d-demon?! Are you crazy?!"

"Come on, man! It's just for fun. We don’t actually expect you to succeed!" Tanjiro chimed in.

But Zenitsu, despite his trembling and reluctance, was never one to back down from a challenge when his pride was on the line—especially not in front of his friends. With his heart racing and every fiber of his being protesting, he nervously agreed to the dare. His friends didn’t give it much thought; they expected him to chicken out.

That night, in the dim light of his basement, Zenitsu gathered everything he had researched on demon summoning. He had found an old, dusty book in the corner of an antique store, detailing a supposed ritual to summon creatures from another realm. His fingers shook as he set up the candles, drew the strange symbols on the floor, and placed the offering in the center. His mind raced with regret.

"I’m going to die! I’m really going to die!" Zenitsu whispered to himself, barely keeping it together.

The thought of facing a real demon had him on the verge of tears, but the dare had to be fulfilled. And so, despite his terror, he began to chant the mantra from the ancient book, his voice quivering with each syllable. The room grew colder, and an eerie stillness filled the air. He squeezed his eyes shut, expecting something monstrous, evil, and terrifying to appear before him.

Instead, when Zenitsu finally opened his eyes, what he saw made him blink in disbelief. Standing before him was a figure that looked nothing like the horrors he had imagined.
