Today was one of those rare days when Great found himself back at his father's house, a place he despised. If not for his mother, he would have never set foot there again. He only came when absolutely necessary, and tonight was one of those occasions. The whole family had to be present for dinner, as was tradition whenever something important needed to be discussed.
The reason for tonight's gathering was Korn's upcoming wedding. Korn sat at the table, his fiancé Tonkla by his side. It was Tonkla's first time meeting Korn's family, and his nervousness was evident. He clung to Korn, barely speaking, and every time Korn's father addressed him or spoke in general, Tonkla would lower his head, avoiding eye contact.
It was clear that Korn's father still didn't fully approve of Tonkla, but because of his agreement with Korn, he had no Choice but to let it happen.
"The wedding will be held privately," he announced, his gaze sweeping over the family, lingering briefly on Tonkla. "Only a few people will attend, just close friends and family."
Tonkla, sitting beside Korn, stiffened slightly but said nothing. He was already anxious, and the mention of a private ceremony didn't make things any easier. Great, watching the exchange, kept his usual indifferent expression, though he could sense the unspoken tension between his father and Korn.
Their father had never been subtle about his disapproval of Tonkla. The private wedding was just another sign. The man still couldn't accept that Korn was marrying someone who wasn't from an influential family-someone who, in his eyes, brought no strategic advantage to their name.
Tonkla, an orphan with no family or prestigious background, stood in stark contrast to the powerful connections Korn's father had always envisioned for his sons. Despite the agreement with Korn, it was clear that their father saw Tonkla's lack of family as a weakness, something that could never fully align with the image he had for the family's future.
But Korn had made his decision, and their father, bound by their agreement, had no choice but to allow the wedding to proceed. The tension in the room was thick, but Korn remained firm, while Tonkla kept his head down, feeling the weight of the unspoken judgment.
Great's unexpected announcement cut through the tension in the room. "I'm also bringing my date to the wedding," he declared, his tone casual as if discussing the weather.
The room fell silent. his father, already irritated by the day's events, shot a sharp look at Great. "A date? You didn't mention anything about seeing someone," he said, his voice laced with disapproval.
Great shrugged, unfazed. "Just thought I'd make it more interesting. Besides, it's a private event. Why not?"
Korn, sitting beside Tonkla, shot Great a glance of mixed surprise and relief. The shift in focus seemed to lighten the mood, at least temporarily. Tonkla, still nervous, looked at Great with curiosity.

With just a week left before Korn's wedding, Great found himself in a bind. Despite his bold declaration at the family dinner, he still hadn't convinced Tyme to be his date. Since the night he ended up drunk at Tyme's house, he hadn't called or reached out. It wasn't like him to give up so easily, but something about Tyme made him hesitate.Great sat in his condo, staring at his phone. He debated whether to dial Tyme's number. The last interaction had been... well, embarrassing to say the least. He could still remember waking up in Tyme's guest room and the awkward conversation with his grandmother. And after all that, he had just walked away without saying much. Maybe Tyme was relieved he hadn't called again.
"Ugh," Great groaned to himself, flopping onto his couch. "I need a plan."
He had already told his family he was bringing someone, and now he had to follow through. But Tyme wasn't the type to bend to his will easily. Great smirked to himself, remembering how Tyme had shot down his previous attempts to persuade him. The man was impossible, and maybe that was part of why he found this whole thing so intriguing.
