“What’s been up with you lately, man?” Title asked as he and Great met up for drinks, ready to catch up.

“Not much,” Great answered casually, keeping his tone light. He wasn’t quite ready to let everyone in on his relationship, especially with the questions he knew it would bring.

“So, why did you want to meet up?” Great asked, quickly steering the conversation elsewhere.

“I’m throwing a party Friday night, and you’re coming—no excuses,” Title said with a grin. Great took a sip from his glass and nodded in agreement.

On Friday, Great let Tyme know he’d be at a party, so they wouldn’t be able to meet that night.

The party was everything you’d expect—a lively scene, packed with people, pulsing music, and a wide array of drinks. When Great arrived, the place was already buzzing. He wove through the crowd until he spotted Title, who was chatting with an Omega. The moment Title noticed Great, he wrapped things up with the Omega and came over.

“I almost thought you were gonna bail on me,” Title said, clapping Great on the shoulder.

“Traffic was a nightmare,” Great replied, grabbing a drink from a passing server. He gestured toward the Omega, who was still looking their way. “So, who was that?”

Title grinned, throwing an arm around Great. “You’ll find out,” he said, then pulled him into the crowd, determined to make sure Great had a good time.

Great’s spirit lifted, and he began to relax, letting the energy of the party take over. It had been ages since he’d really let loose, and he was determined to enjoy himself tonight. Drink after drink, he found himself laughing freely, joking around with old friends, and moving to the beat on the crowded dance floor.

He and Title laughed over silly inside jokes and danced without a care, sometimes with strangers who’d drifted into their circle, other times with friends who pulled him into even wilder moves.

At one point, he glanced at his phone and saw Tyme’s name. He knew he’d told Tyme he’d be at this party, but he still felt a pang of guilt. Would Tyme be disappointed if he knew just how much fun he was having here? Or maybe Tyme would understand. Either way, he tucked the phone back in his pocket and decided to stay in the moment.

Title noticed his gaze linger on the phone and nudged him. “Missing someone?”

Great scoffed, pretending to brush it off. “Maybe. Or maybe I’m just making the most of tonight.”

Title grinned. “That’s more like it! Now, let’s hit the dance floor again. You’re not slowing down yet, are you?”

With a newfound surge of energy, Great downed the last sip of his drink, grabbed Title’s arm, and let himself get lost in the music once more.

As the night progressed, the party devolved into a chaotic mix of laughter and slurred speech. Guests were sprawled across the floor or passed out on couches, while a few couples found themselves entwined in shadowy corners, completely absorbed in their own worlds. Title was busy with the omega from earlier, leaving Great to navigate the social scene on his own.

Great slouched on a couch, his eyelids heavy, managing to fend off the advances of several omegas with a simple, firm “I’m not interested.” Each one walked away, dejected, and he felt a twinge of guilt but couldn’t muster the energy to care too much.

Just as he began to drift into sleep, his phone buzzed in his pocket. He answered it without checking who was calling.

“Hello…” he mumbled, the words slurring together.
