Sunoo stood outside his grandmother Yea-ji's chamber. He took a deep breath, preparing himself before pushing the door open. Inside, the room was bathed in the warm glow of candlelight, and the scent of her favourite tea hung in the air.

He walked over to the low table, where the delicate porcelain cups awaited him. He sat across from his grandmother,

"I'm sorry, Sunoo," Yea-ji began, pouring tea into their cups, her eyes focused on the cups. "I couldn't do anything to stop this."

Sunoo smiled at her, though his heart clenched at her words. He picked up his cup, cradling it in his hands as he watched the steam rise. "It's not your fault, Grandma, Besides, I'll be writing you letters regularly. You won't be able to get rid of me that easily."

Sunoo sighed, placing the teacup down gently. He looked at his grandmother, who smiled at him, "I guess this is it for now."

Yea-ji stood and stepped around the table, enveloping Sunoo in a warm embrace. "Be brave, my darling. Remember, you carry my strength within you," she whispered into his ear.

Sunoo squeezed her tightly. "I will, Grandma. I promise."

"I'll miss you"

"And I'll miss you."

With one last squeeze, Sunoo pulled away, glancing back as he left the room. He could feel his grandmother's soft gaze on his back as he stepped further into the large castle hallways.
