anastasia lennox didn't believe in fairytales. there were no fairy godmothers to wave a wand and make everything right, no glass slippers to change your life overnight. there were just the choices you made, the luck you were born into, and the people you stepped on to get ahead. it was a philosophy that had served her well enough, wrapped her in luxury and surrounded her with admirers—albeit the kind who envied as much as they adored.

"did you hear?" a blue eyed, blonde girl shrieked, running over to her friend. "do you know who's back?"

"what are you talking about?" her friend sighed, setting her phone down.

"anastasia lennox."

the second girl paused mid-sigh, her eyes widening. "anastasia lennox?" she repeated slowly, as if tasting the name on her tongue. "you can't be serious."

the blonde nodded furiously, her excitement palpable. "oh, i'm dead serious. she's back."

"how do you know?" the girl questioned, leaning in, curiosity flickering across her face.

"my mom works at the lennox estate," the blonde replied, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "she saw anastasia arrive last night. it was this whole thing—black suvs, security detail, all the usual drama."

the second girl let out a low whistle. "sounds about right. does anyone know why she's back?"

"no clue," the blonde admitted, shrugging with exaggerated indifference. "we don't even know why she left in the first place,"

they both shared a knowing look, recalling memories of past school scandals and whispered gossip. anastasia lennox had always left a mark—whether it was a scathing comment that spread like wildfire or a grand entrance that silenced rooms. her presence was electric, and everyone knew it.

"i bet the kooks are already freaking out," the blonde added, glancing over her shoulder as if expecting anastasia to appear any second. "especially sarah and rafe."
