[Corhim Sparkledingle the gnome wizard, Fenrir the human warlock, Dak the half-orc barbarian and Levmeia the cleric are all back from Bone Island. Dak has decided to do something about his life long dream of owning a tavern.]
DAY 643 (5th Nightal)(December)Dak, you may remember, was in possession of a considerable fortune. His half of the treasure in the secret chamber on the other side of a portal in the Barrow. I have the other half.
He had often talked (to anyone that would listen) about buying a tavern. I think half of it came from his long running feud with Gyles at the Finchey Inn.
So today he went around town looking for places for sale and found:
- A decent sized fish processing warehouse by the docks. The owner was getting on a bit and wanted to retire so he gladly sold the warehouse to Dak for 1000 gold.
- A derelict mansion set a street back from the docks. He bought this off the owner for a very gratefully received 2000 gold. These purchases made hardly a dent in his fortune, so he next went back to the Barrow to see if there was anyone he could hire from the people currently living there.
He hired:
Crimaie Dramint - a nice gnomish lady, a cooper by trade
Gabriel Averydoodlece - an amusing young halfling lady, a woodworker
Aualit Stramgrey - a female kobold who had some experience as a waitress
Sarto Plod - a young halfling lad who was a good cook
Sawolat Hapint - a sailorHe then had Crimaie and Sawolat, the most useful of his new lackeys to go and purchase a bunch of tables, chairs, barrels, goblets and that sort of thing.
He also invested in some average locks for the doors and had the fireplace made into something more pleasant than just the place were fish soup was boiled.
All this kept him busy well into the night.
DAY 644 (6th Nightal)(December)Dak continued to supervise the conversion of his fish shed into a tavern all through the night and into the afternoon.
When he got tired he went to look at his "mansion". It was pretty run down, with smashed in windows and holes in the roof, but had once been a noble two storey building, apparently built by an affluent pirate before he died of old age or something. The current owner had been very happy to get it off his hands.
Even a half-orc could see that it would require a lot of work to make it somewhere he could bring people back to, but for now it was a decent enough place for him to lay down his bedroll.
