The tension had been building for weeks now, creeping into every interaction, every glance exchanged between them. It was thick, almost suffocating, like a storm cloud hanging over them, ready to burst at any moment. And Y/N was trapped in the middle of it, drowning in the feelings she knew she shouldn’t have but couldn’t deny any longer.
It was wrong. So wrong. But the pull she felt towards Itachi was undeniable.
Every time she saw him, her heart would race in her chest, her pulse quickening as though her body recognized something her mind wasn’t ready to admit. It wasn’t just attraction. No, this was something darker, something that scared her as much as it excited her. It wasn’t just his looks or his confidence that drew her in—it was the power he held over her, the way he seemed to control every aspect of her life without her even realizing it.
He knew.
He knew what he was doing, and that made it all the more terrifying.
Y/N tried to focus, tried to keep her mind off him, but it was impossible. Everywhere she went, he was there. If not in person, then in her thoughts, haunting her like a shadow she couldn’t escape. Even in her dreams, he was there—always watching, always waiting, like a predator stalking his prey.
And what scared her most was that part of her wanted to be caught.
She caught glimpses of him in the hallways, at the library, even outside her dorm building. He was everywhere, and yet, he never approached her directly outside of class. It was as if he was giving her space to come to him, but not too much space. Just enough to remind her that he was always there, just out of reach, watching her every move.
The unspoken tension between them had reached a fever pitch, and Y/N knew it was only a matter of time before something snapped.
---
It was a late afternoon when Y/N found herself in the library, trying desperately to focus on an assignment that was due in a few days. The words on the page blurred together, her mind drifting back to him no matter how hard she tried to focus. She ran a hand through her hair in frustration, letting out a quiet sigh.
“Is this seat taken?”
Y/N’s heart jumped into her throat as she looked up, meeting those dark, piercing eyes she had been trying so hard to avoid. Itachi stood there, tall and imposing, his presence dominating the small space around them. He didn’t wait for her to respond, simply sitting down across from her, his gaze never leaving hers.
For a moment, neither of them spoke. The tension between them crackled in the air, almost tangible, like a current running through the room. Y/N’s pulse raced as she tried to steady her breathing, but it was no use. He was too close, too intense, and she couldn’t think straight.
“I didn’t expect to see you here,” she said quietly, her voice barely audible over the pounding of her heart.
“I could say the same about you,” Itachi replied, his tone calm and measured, but there was something in his eyes—something dark and knowing. “You’ve been distracted lately.”
Y/N swallowed hard, her throat dry. “I’ve just had a lot on my mind.”
Itachi leaned forward slightly, his gaze never wavering. “And what exactly has been occupying your thoughts?”
She hesitated, her mind racing. He knew. Of course, he fucking knew. He always did. But she couldn’t admit it, couldn’t give him the satisfaction of knowing just how much control he had over her.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she said, her voice trembling slightly.
Itachi’s lips curved into a small, almost imperceptible smile. “Lying doesn’t suit you, Y/N.”
