When **Sebastian** arrived home, the dim light cast eerie shadows throughout the room. As he approached the piano, he felt a chill run down his spine. There, illuminated by a soft glow, was a ghostly figure resembling **Mei**.
Heart racing, he rubbed his eyes, unsure if the fatigue was playing tricks on him. But as soon as he scratched his eyes, the apparition vanished, leaving behind only the haunting sound of an unfinished melody lingering in the air.
- **Sebastian (voice trembling):**
*“Mei… is that you?”*He reached out toward the piano, feeling an overwhelming sense of loss. The weight of their shared history pressed down on him, igniting a desperate need for answers about the past and the connection that still felt so strong.
Determined, **Sebastian** sat at the piano, fingers poised above the keys, ready to play the song that echoed in his heart—a song that might just bridge the gap between the living and the dead.
As Sebastian's fingers danced across the piano keys, a haunting melody filled the room. Suddenly, a voice echoed in his mind, crystal clear yet filled with sorrow.
- **Mei (voice ethereal):**
*“Dad, it’s me, Mei. Sadly, I can’t exactly show myself now because you don’t deserve it… because of what you did in 1921. You killed your daughter.”*Sebastian froze, the notes hanging in the air like a mournful ghost. Guilt washed over him, heavy and suffocating.
- **Sebastian (voice shaking):**
*“No… I didn’t mean to. It was all so chaotic…”*But the words felt inadequate, echoing into the emptiness. He was left grappling with the weight of his actions, the memories of that fateful day flooding back with agonizing clarity.
- **Mei (softly):**
*“You need to confront what you’ve done. Only then can you truly find peace.”*The connection faded, and the room felt colder, leaving Sebastian alone with his guilt and the haunting realization that he had yet to come to terms with his past. Determined, he resolved to face the truth, no matter how painful it might be.
Sebastian's heart ached as he listened to Mei’s voice, filled with longing and sorrow.
- **Sebastian:**
*“Did you go to Papa? Blake?”*- **Mei (voice trembling):**
*“No, I wished to see him one last time, but I can’t. He thinks I’m just a hallucination. I’m losing my ghostly powers, and I can’t hold on much longer. I’m worried I’ll never see him again.”*Sebastian felt a sharp pang of regret, the weight of his past choices pressing down on him.
- **Sebastian:**
*“I’ll help you. I’ll find a way to reach him. You deserve to see him again.”*- **Mei:**
*“You need to confront your own demons first, Dad. Only then can you guide him to me.”*The realization struck him like a lightning bolt. He had to face the truth of what happened in 1921, to atone for his actions before he could help Mei find peace.
- **Sebastian:**
*“I promise, Mei. I’ll do whatever it takes.”*With that vow hanging in the air, he felt a flicker of hope, even as the shadows of his past loomed large.
Sebastian’s gaze fell to the floor, wrestling with a whirlwind of emotions. He took a deep breath, steeling himself for the question that had haunted him since Mei’s death.
- **Sebastian:**
*“Are you in heaven? Or... hell?”*He watched as a silence stretched between them. Mei’s voice returned, light and teasing, a flicker of mischief beneath the sadness.
- **Mei:**
*“You really want to know? I mean, it’s kind of funny, isn’t it?”*Sebastian frowned, confused by her tone.
- **Sebastian:**
*“Funny? Mei, this isn’t a joke. You... you died because of me.”*Mei's laughter echoed softly, a haunting melody that reminded him of brighter days.
- **Mei:**
*“I know, but look at it this way: I get to be a ghost. I can watch everyone, slip through walls, and no one can see me! Plus, it’s kind of a cosmic joke, isn’t it? The whole ‘good’ and ‘evil’ thing? What if I’m somewhere in between?”*Sebastian felt a strange mix of sadness and warmth at her whimsical perspective.
- **Sebastian:**
*“But what if you’re stuck? What if you can’t find peace?”*Her laughter faded, replaced by a somber note.
- **Mei:**
*“Maybe peace isn’t just a place, Dad. Maybe it’s more about acceptance. I can’t hold onto anger. It only hurts you and Blake more.”*Sebastian swallowed hard, feeling the weight of her words.
- **Sebastian:**
*“I’ve hurt you. I’ve hurt Blake. How can I fix this?”*- **Mei:**
*“You have to forgive yourself first. Remember the good things, the laughter, the love. Let that guide you.”*He nodded slowly, her words resonating deep within him.
- **Sebastian:**
*“I wish I could have done things differently.”*- **Mei:**
*“Wishing doesn’t change the past, Dad. But you can still change the future. For us.”*The room felt heavier, filled with the echoes of the past. He could almost feel Mei's presence wrapping around him, comforting yet painful.
- **Sebastian:**
*“I just want to see you again, Mei.”*- **Mei:**
*“You will, but only when you’re ready. Just remember: I’m still here, even if you can’t see me.”*As her words hung in the air, he felt a bittersweet sense of hope. Maybe this was just the beginning of a long journey toward healing. And with that, the flickering light in his heart grew a little brighter, promising to guide him through the darkness that lay ahead
