Season 3, Episode 3: "Fading Shadows"
The episode begins in Blake's dimly lit apartment. The faint glow of the evening sun barely pierces the thick curtains he’s drawn over every window. The once vibrant Blake, filled with charm and wit, is now a mere shadow of himself. His mental health has been slowly deteriorating since the breakup with Giulio and the stress of co-parenting Rain, as well as old memories resurfacing from his past.
The camera pans over Blake’s desk — scattered papers, old photographs of Rain, and a faded picture of Mei, his adoptive daughter who passed in 1921. A half-empty bottle of whiskey sits beside his phone, which has multiple missed calls from Rain and unread texts from Sebastian.
Blake sits on the couch, staring blankly at the TV, though it’s muted. His face is gaunt, his eyes heavy with exhaustion. He hasn't been sleeping well. His insomnia has returned with a vengeance, and when he does manage to fall asleep, his dreams are haunted by the faces of people he’s lost over the centuries.
The silence is broken by Rain entering the apartment. He’s just come back from school, wearing a hoodie that covers his thinning hair and hiding the discomfort he feels in his own body.
Rain: "Dad…?"
He hesitates, looking at Blake, noticing how withdrawn he’s become in the past few months. "I’m home."Blake glances at his son, but it’s as if he doesn’t truly see him. He forces a smile but fails to reach his eyes.
Blake: "Hey, Rain… how was school?"
Rain: "It was fine…" He trails off, sensing the tension in the room. "Are you okay?"
Blake tries to brush it off, but Rain’s concern is palpable. Rain has noticed his dad sinking deeper into isolation and depression since the breakup with Giulio. Blake tries to change the subject, asking Rain about his day, but the weight of the conversation lingers.
Blake: "I’ll be fine, kid. Just… tired."
Rain isn’t convinced, but he doesn’t push further. Instead, he quietly retreats to his room, leaving Blake alone in the silence once again.---
Flashback Sequence:
As Blake sits alone, he begins to reminisce, and the scene shifts to a memory — it’s 1910. Blake and Sebastian are at the church, a confrontation with the pastor who tries to “cleanse” Blake’s soul of sin. Blake, in a fit of rage and desperation, screams at the pastor, “I slept with the devil!” The church bells ring ominously as Sebastian enters the room, killing the pastor in front of Blake. Blake’s heart pounds in fear and confusion, leading to his heart attack. In that moment, Sebastian, with a look of sorrow and determination, turns him into a vampire to save him from death.
The flashback ends abruptly as Blake is pulled back to the present, clutching his chest instinctively.

Nightfall:
It’s late, and the moonlight creeps through the cracks in the curtains. Blake takes another swig from his bottle before he stumbles to his bedroom. He sits on the edge of the bed, head in his hands, fighting back tears that threaten to spill over. The loneliness, the heartbreak, and the weight of centuries weigh heavily on him. Mei’s face flashes in his mind, her voice from the past echoing in his thoughts.
Blake (whispering to himself): "I’m sorry… I should have saved you."
He lies back on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. His thoughts spiral. He feels trapped in his own mind, unable to escape the endless loop of guilt and regret. The scene grows heavier as Blake’s internal monologue implies darker thoughts, hinting at the idea that he might want to escape it all permanently.
