"Ty, why do you always shove that camera in my face when I want to cry?" Tyler frowned.
"Why do you want to cry, baby doll?" Josh fought the smile biting at his lips from Tyler's new favorite term of endearment.
"Because it's our last day together! And it's freaking raining outside. Nature knows it the gloomiest day of my life." Tyler shook his head and wrapped his arm around his boyfriend.
"Nature is trying to tell us to stay inside and cuddle. Don't fight nature, Josh. Besides, if you were outside your hair might fade a little bit." Josh ran his fingers through his bright, fresh pink hair. Tyler kissed his cheek and suddenly realized he wouldn't do that again for a while. No more mall trips, no more mocking Ohio, and no more telling Anna about their dates for at least a year. The closest Josh could get to Ohio was the west side of Illinois. Tyler felt tears nipping at his eyelids and he refused to waste precious time crying.
"Joshua, I wrote a song for you. Just for you. I was going to wait for Christmas, but I think now is as good a time as ever." Josh's face got slightly red and he smiled the biggest smile Tyler had ever seen. Tyler crawled off the bed, leaving the camera with Josh. He grabbed his ukulele and glanced at his journal with lyrics scribbled over the pages. He told himself that he'd do just fine and that Josh would totally love it, but he had a nagging feeling that he'd forget every word he wrote. Tyler forced himself to forget those thoughts and sit cross-crossed on the bed.
"You say things with your mouth
Cobwebs and flies come out..." Josh couldn't help but think Tyler wasn't really talking about him. Of course, Josh had problems, but he never really talked about them with Tyler. They weren't severe or important enough for that."So try to love me
And I'll try to save you..." Josh almost teared up. He remembered one night when Tyler had a very bad panic attack and called Josh, barely able to speak. He stayed on the phone with him until sunrise, then went to his house and talked with him some more. Josh refused to let Tyler have anxiety if he could do something about it. He wanted to save him."Did you like it," Tyler asked him once he set his ukulele down on the bed.
"I loved it! It was absolutely beautiful, Ty!"
"Thank you, I'm so happy you didn't hate it." Josh frowned for a moment.
"Anyone that hates that song has no heart to speak of. It is the most precious thing I've heard in my life." Tyler blushed bright red and leaned over to kiss his boyfriend. Josh placed his hands on both sides of Tyler's torso and couldn't help but hold him tight. He kissed Tyler passionately and was quickly knocked over, Tyler on his stomach. They both giggled, intertwining their hands.
"I love you, Tyler. I know I say that a lot and it probably gets annoying, but I mean it. I love your face. I love how your body seems to fit just right with mine when we cuddle. I love your beautiful voice. I love when I fall asleep to you singing and strumming your ukulele. I love your laugh and I love it even more when I'm the one causing it." Tyler felt tears flow from his eyes and he pressed his lips on Josh's just to make sure he didn't sob. Tyler slowly straddled Josh, cupping his face with his hands, kissing him confidently. He felt like he was invincible. A ukulele man and his drummer boy. He felt like he could rule the world. He felt like every bit of his soul was absolutely exposed to this precious man and it somehow made him confident in himself. Josh saw who Tyler really was and didn't run away. He didn't hate him. He didn't feel pity for him. He wasn't overwhelmed. He loved him. Every flaw, every scar, every quiver of his lip. Joshua loved him.
"You're coming with me, Tyler."
"What? To college?"
"Well, you don't have to go to school if you don't want. But let's get an apartment. Let's live together." Tyler felt his cheeks become hot and he couldn't fight the grin on his face.
"How about I get a job and you can go to school. I'll help you study. I'll make cheesy memory-trick songs for your hard subjects." Josh laughed and pulled Tyler's face to his.
"How about it?" Tyler smiled, laying his head on Josh's chest, memorizing his heartbeat.
"It's going to be absolutely sick."
