Everything was set. I didn't reveal too much not too little. I got straight to the point... Kinda. I didn't tell him why he would cover up. He needed what I wanted him to. Is that bad? I know it is. I just don't want people to pity me.
Next day, I didn't even bother to have breakfast with my parents. I just took my skateboard and left. And maybe my father saw me holding a skateboard. But why was it worth hiding? I only hid it because I didn't want Leila to have trouble for my problems. Before he could argue, I was already outside. He is not worth my time.
But before I left, I made sure the mark on my cheek wasn't visible. Maybe because I put a ton of concealer. I couldn't hide the cut on my forehead. I just put a band-aid on it and hopefully nobody would care.
I arrived at school, late this time. As I was walking through the doors, I could feel everybody's eyes on me as I passed. My face remained emotionless. If the whole day was going to go like that, then no thank you, I don't wanna go to school. Thankfully Liam and Martin were already there.
"Hey guys!"
"Hey... woa!"
"What? What is it?" Martin got me worried for a second.
"What happened in your forehead?" Martin asked.
"And why are you wearing so much concealer?" Tom added.
"What?" Yeah, I tried to play dump. We don't talk about it. "I just hit my head on a shelf and I woke up with a ton of acne this morning." Come on Liam! Get a hint!
"But you never had problem with..." Martin started saying.
"Come on Dels! Tell him the truth. What? Are you embarrassed?" I was ready to smack his face in the wall. Was he making fun of me? "Don't believe her. The truth is, we were going home and some guys, I don't know who they were, just wanted to start a fight." Thank god he said an excuse. If he said the truth, he wouldn't be alive to talk with Martin right now.
"And how come you came untouched?"
"Oh please! Liam always comes untouched from any fight!" Okay, maybe I was exaggerating a bit, but Martin believed it.
"Uhm... guys... I need to go!" Martin said amd ran to the front door.
"He couldn't make it more obvious." I laughed, but Liam was dead serious.
"What happened?" I lowered my gaze. It is not the best thing to discuss at school. His hand cupped my chin and lifted my head upwards, making me look directly at his eyes. His beautiful forest green eyes. "It's okay. I just want you to be okay..." He sounded desperate to help me. He really wanted to.
"It's... It's my dad. Because I sneaked out. I was in the bathroom and he slapped me and I hit my head on the bathtub. That's all."
"I'm sorry..."
"Don't be. I'm counting the days till I turn 18 to get out of there."
"Can I do something to make you feel better?"
"Don't tell it to anyone."
"I wouldn't. I wouldn't do this to you. It took you so many years to open up to me. I don't want to make you feel uncomfortable or anything..." Just when my mood was improved, Jason came over to talk to me. Liam glared at him. I don't think they ever got along. Jason is Liam's biggest nemesis, but he got along with the fact I wanted to date him."What do you want, Jason?"
"Hey uhmm first of all. I'm sorry 'bout your sister."
"Save it."
"Nevermind, I just wanted to talk to you about us. I don't think it will ever work out."
"Oh really? Will it work out with Sophie?"
"What?"
"You didn't hear me? I said will it work out with Sophie?" I said a little bit louder.
"Look it's not what you think."
"It's over Jason. Spare your apology. Go tell it to some girl who believes it. Tschüssies."I looked at Liam again. He had a small smirk on his face. He leaned in and whispered to my ear:
"That's my girl." His girl... No, Delora. He didn't mean it like that. He could have every girl he could ever dream of. Why would he choose you?
