"Emma it's not like that!" You protested, rolling your eyes dramatically at the blonde.Emma leaned against the kitchen counter with her palms, a shocked expression painting her face. "You're crushing on her?!"
You once again rolled your eyes and grabbed your car keys. "Can you blame me? She's mature and older, she has much more life experience than immature guys my age" you explained, opening the door. "I don't care about your opinion. People deserve second chances"
Emma scoffed "yeah that's until she breaks your heart... or even worse! Who knows, maybe one day she'll use her dark magic on you, it's not unlikely" Emma spat back, and you glared at her.
"She's not like that anymore" you defended the mayor of the town. People still saw Regina as the Evil Queen and were very determined to have it stay that way. Which was why when you protested against it, everyone tried to warn you about her, warn you about how she would turn on you and how she was only manipulating you.
You had had enough. You closed the door while Emma kept preaching about Regina, before you climbed the stairs and made it to your car, turning on the engine.
It wasn't long before you parked outside the mayors house. You walked up the long path to the white mansion, eventually reaching her porch where you knocked on the hard wooden door.
The door opened and Regina's expression looked slightly surprised to see you standing there on her doorstep. She knew no one else other than you would even dare to pay her a visit, but she was still surprised that you had come to see her.
"Hello dear?" Regina said, raising an eyebrow to show off her confusion.
"Can I come in?" You asked, hoping she would say yes since you would do it nonetheless. It would just be easier for both parts if she agreed.
Regina nodded and took a step to the side, gesturing for you to enter.
Her house was as elegant as ever. The creamy walls, and the white interior, matched with the golden decorations. "Is Henry home?"
Regina shook her head, closing the door behind you before she stepped closer in your direction, her heels clicking against the floor. You knew she expected an explanation for you to just stop by like this. After all you two weren't a thing. Or were you?
"I just needed to see you" you explained as you turned around to face her. You studied her face. Her eyes were so soft and her lips were curved into an understanding faint smile. How could anyone speak about her like Emma did before. Did they not see what you so clearly saw?
"Is that okay?" You asked, not knowing what the two of you were yet.
Regina folded her arms over her chest nodding, not saying anything which both calmed you and freaked you out completely.
"I needed a break from... the others" you said and you didn't even need any further explanation before Regina knew what you were referring to. She took a step closer to you, her black heels echoing through the foyer.
"They're talking about me again, aren't they?" She tilted her head to gain an answer from you, and all you could do was to nod. Regina returned yours with one of her own before she glided down her dress - she was always such a perfectionist.
"Well I have the house to myself till tomorrow morning... Henry's at his tennis camp. You can stay if you want" she suggested, not trying to tempt you, simply just suggesting the idea.
Your gaze rose form the floor to land on her once again, and you couldn't do anything but to nod in agreement. You then, without a second thought, walked over to her, your legs moving by themselves before wrapping your arms around her frame, burying your face into her shoulder.
Regina immediately returned the hug out of concern, her hand stroking up and down your back instinctively.
