I woke up with a heavy head, but my uneasiness had faded. My eyelids felt heavy, and my thoughts were confusing. Sunlight streamed through the glass window in my room, and I stirred on my bed before rolling out.

Muffled noises cane from the living room, but I headed straight to the washroom, paying no attention to them. My stomach growled, reminding me that I had skipped dinner the night before.

After brushing my teeth, I disrobed and stepped into the shower cubicle. The sound of rushing water was refreshing, the first drops were cold, but they quickly warmed to my touch, filling the bathroom with steam that moistened my skin. the water cascaded down, letting it soak my full body. Spending copious time in the bathroom before stepping out.

Wrapping myself in the soft fabric of a towel, I walked over to my closet through the bathroom. Standing in front of the clothes hanging neatly inside, indecisiveness enveloped me. After rejecting a couple of outfits, I finally settled on something for the day ahead.

I sat on my bed, legs tangled and back resting against the headboard, and picked up my phone from the nightstand. Turning on the internet, a flood of messages appeared on my screen. I had last used my phone to book a cab before switching it off.

One message caught my eye, was from Evren. I quickly opened it.

EVREN: Are you okay? Derin told me what happened.

A smile tugged at my lips as I read his message. Instead of replying, I pressed the call button. He picked up after four rings.

"Hi!" My voice was sedated.

"Hi, babes!" he replied, matching my tone.

"Are you fine, Fria? I messaged you yesterday, and you're replying now," he asked, concern lacing his voice.

As his words reached my ears, I recalled the earlier incident when Zehra mentioned Yerik's name. I didn't want to lie to him, but I also couldn't reveal everything. "Um, yeah. My phone died, and I went to bed early because of a headache."
