Chloë was your average teenager besides living in absolute hell for the past 17 years, well at least the 12 that she can remember.
A lot of the time dying felt like a better option, I mean you can't feel if you're not alive right?
She was tired, tired was an understatement to describe how done Chloë was with life, she felt like No one would even care if she lived or died, hell she didn't even care.
Living in a mental, emotional, and sometimes physically abusive environment was one of the worst things Chloë had to cope with.
On top of her living situation, she got borderline bullied at school.
Why didn't she just stand up for herself? The degradation felt necessary to her, it felt like she deserved it.
Right now Chloë was planning her final attempt at ending her life, this time it would surely work!
The hundreds of time before, cutting, overdosing, even trying to drown herself, it never worked.
"CHLOË" she heard being yelled making her quickly close her notebook, where she was constructing the letters to people who'd made an impact on her life, the people she'd forever be grateful for.
"Ma'am?" Chloë answered to her mom in her naturally soft voice, which only got lower the more powerful her parents got.
"I asked you to do one thing Chloë, and you can't even do that right" she said, she had asked Chloe to pick her up cigarettes, but she couldn't get them being that she is underage.
"You're fucking worthless you know, the world would be a better place without you in it, I promise" she spat bumping her as she walked out.
"Don't worry, I won't be here much longer anyways" Chloë mumbled very lowly with a small smile.
The more they instilled this type of stuff in her head the more she believed it, Chloë honestly felt like a disturbance to everyone's life, and truly believed everyone would be happier once she was gone.
Deciding to walk around outside a little before locking herself in her room, Chloë put on her crocs and slipped out of the front door.
She walked all around her neighborhood and the surrounding ones for hours, hoping she stumbled upon some gun violence and it did the job for her.
Believe it or not Chloë was a beautiful girl, she couldn't see it but many people around her did.
She was so Bruised, battered, and broken, both externally and internally, that it was hard to think anybody would want anything to do with her so she stuck to herself.
Sitting on the side of the road with her head hung low, Chloë contemplated running out into the oncoming traffic but she didn't want to cause any accidents and harm people that actually mattered.
Letting out a deep sigh she just sat there head hung low.
The severe depression was hitting her hard, somehow she couldn't cry, even though she was at her lowest point in life, and she's seen some pretty bad lows.
"Hey lil mama you good?" She heard a voice ask
Looking up she seen something mesmerizing, a boy, he was really tall with nice brown skin, tattoos, and, long curly hair.
"I'm fine, am I on your property? Cause I can move" she said softly, it was just above a whisper, getting ready to stand up.
"Nah you good" he said, tempting to walk away but his body wouldn't let him.
Sluggishly he turned back around and sat on the curb next to her.
"What's your name?" He asked her, she looked back up at him furrowing her eyebrows wondering why he decided to talk to her.
"C-Chloë" she stuttered, not used to much conversation from younger people.
"You gotta speak up mama, I can't hear that" he said scooting a bit closer to her.
"I'm Chloë, W-what about you?" She asked
"I'm Dk" he answered giving his nickname that they gave him in the streets.
Dk was your typical hood nigga, he banged, sold, scammed, pretty much anything and everything to put food on the table, but now he was up.
"How old you is?" He asked her.
"17" Chloë answered.
"Oh damn you a baby" Dk said slightly chuckling.
"Hey, I turn eighteen in 3 months" she said laughing with him, 'not that I'll be here to enjoy it' Chloë thought
"How old are you?" She asked
"I just turned 21 a few days ago, I'm grown lil one" he said laughing as well now.
This was the most Chloë has probably smiled in years, besides when she's at school with her favorite teacher.
The two talked for hours, just getting to know one another, laughing and carrying on, not even noticing that the night was creeping in.
"Where you live?" Dk asked.
"Pearl street" she answered.
"Damn you gotta walk all the way over there in the dark?" He asked.
"It's fine, I like walking in the dark" Chloë said standing up.
Dk insisted walking her home or even just a little closer to her destination so she wouldn't be along since folks are weird around this area.
Once they got to the top of her street she looked at him, "It was nice to meet you Dk" she said going to walk away.
"Delaney" he said making her turn back around.
"Huh"
"My name is Delaney and here" he said giving Her back her white, cracked up, iPhone 11 that she didn't even know he had taken.
"I put my number in it" he said turning around before walking away.
