Chapter 7 Lies

Li Guixiang gathered with a few women, and looked over at the vegetable stall from time to time.

Even if Zhang Beiting couldn't hear, he could guess that what they were talking about must be related to him.

He Hai also noticed it, glanced at the group of women, and hesitated to speak.

"Don't worry about it." Zhang Beiting said.

A group of women were gossiping behind his back. If nothing happened, he couldn't just run over and tell them to shut up.

But if something bad was spread or it came to him, he couldn't just let it go.

He said don't worry about it, so He Hai found another topic and asked with a smile: "I saw Brother Yan at the dock this morning, Brother Zhang, why didn't you come with him?"

These two people came to buy vegetables together every day. I didn't expect Brother Zhang to be at ease with Brother Yan going out so early alone.

Zhang Beiting's hand picking vegetables paused almost invisibly, and asked jokingly: "Didn't you ask Yan Qing in the morning?"

"Brother Yan was in a hurry, and probably didn't see me." He Hai said.

"Is that so," Zhang Beiting nodded and replied, "He had something at home and couldn't leave, so he didn't go with us."

It was just a casual chat, so He Hai naturally didn't ask what it was about.

Zhang Beiting bought vegetables and went home. The dough he kneaded before going out was almost done.

He rolled and cut the dough skillfully, but did not boil water.

Instead, he moved a stool under the grape trellis and sat there in a daze.

Song Yanqing told him in the morning that he wanted to visit his mother's grave.

According to his understanding, the cemeteries in Yunyang City are almost all in the west of the city.

And the dock is in the south of the city.

Maybe He Hai saw it wrong?

Until the beginning of the Si hour.

Zhang Beiting heard the sound of the door being pushed open and stood up to check. His movements were so urgent that he did not even realize it.

Song Yanqing stood at the door, his face was red from the sun, his hair was a little messy, and the basket behind him was full of firewood.

"You went to collect firewood?" Zhang Beiting walked quickly towards the door.

Song Yanqing closed the door and walked to the shade under the grape trellis before asking Zhang Beiting to help put down the basket behind him.

When the two of them got a little closer, Zhang Beiting could feel the intense heat from Song Yanqing who had been exposed to the sun for a long time. He quickly picked up the palm-leaf fan next to him and fanned Song Yanqing, "Sit down and rest for a while. I'll go get you some water."

Song Yanqing maintained the squatting posture after putting down the backpack and did not move. She lowered her head and said, "I didn't go to see my mother's grave."

"I'll go with you next time." Zhang Beiting said.

After a pause, he said, "Don't go to pick firewood in the future."

It was so hot that he felt uncomfortable.

"It's not firewood." Song Yanqing removed a layer of firewood on the backpack, revealing a layer of banana leaves. He opened the banana leaves and found a basket of ice powder fruit that was tightly packed inside.
