As the weeks passed, Winter found herself thinking about Jimin more often than she cared to admit. His presence had become a constant, a comforting rhythm in her otherwise quiet life. She wasn’t used to it, wasn’t used to the idea of having someone who cared about her—not just out of obligation, but because they wanted to.
One evening, Winter sat by the window, staring at the small plant Jimin had given her. It had started to grow, the flowers blooming fully now, their delicate petals a reminder of something fragile yet persistent.
Winter had always been wary of letting people get too close, but with Jimin, things felt different. He didn’t demand anything from her, didn’t push her to open up more than she was comfortable with. He was simply there, offering his friendship with no strings attached.
And maybe, for the first time in her life, Winter was ready to accept it.
As she sat there, a quiet realization washed over her: she didn’t want to be alone anymore.
She picked up her phone, typing a message to Jimin before she could second-guess herself.
“Hey. You want to hang out tomorrow?”
The reply came almost immediately.
“Absolutely. See you then.”
Winter smiled, feeling a warmth spread through her chest—a warmth she hadn’t felt in a long time.
Maybe, just maybe, letting someone in was worth it after all.
TBC.
