"The more I try to pull away, the closer I find myself to you.
Are you a drug?
Because I'm hopelessly addicted."

His phone rang, and he pulled the car to the side of the road. It was Vishisht bhai's car, but I couldn't see his Thar anywhere.

That was his favourite, I think.

From the corner of my eye, I saw Verdant talking to someone, looking all serious.

It's hard to believe this guy, who's usually so carefree, can be this serious during a phone call.

"Yes, sir. We're leaving tonight, and by tomorrow morning, we'll be there. I'll update you with everything."

With those final words, he hung up. Wait... he's going somewhere? And the way he was talking-it sounded so professional.

Another mission, maybe?

I looked outside. It wasn't even 7 PM yet, and the sky was already pitch black.

My gaze shifted to the rearview mirror, and I froze.

Wait... what's that?

I blinked a couple of times. My hands clenched the seat, and my voice came out as a soft whisper, trying to alert him to the danger.

"Verd-"

Before I could finish, the car shook violently, followed by the sound of a loud crash.

I knew it! I knew from the way that blue car was speeding that something was off.

Those idiots must be drunk! Who else would crash into a car that's parked at the side of the road?

I don't even know when I closed my eyes - probably the moment they hit us from behind.

When I opened them, I glanced at Verdant. He had banged his head against the steering wheel.
