Jin was feeling feverish. As the oldest member of the group, he believed he should tough it out and handle things on his own. It was a chilly night, and he was shivering under the covers, despite sweating heavily. His body was caught in a constant state of discomfort—hot and cold at the same time. He tried to sleep but found it almost impossible.

As the first light of morning peeked through the curtains, Jin dragged himself out of bed. His head was spinning, and his limbs felt like lead. He stumbled into the bathroom, splashed cold water on his face, and tried to shake off the dizziness. Every movement was exhausting, but he pushed through.

Jin knew that he needed to get breakfast ready for the rest of the group. Even though he wasn’t feeling well, he didn’t want to let anyone down. He carefully made his way downstairs, taking one step at a time to avoid falling. He started preparing breakfast: rice, soup, and a few side dishes. Cooking was a routine he had done countless times, but today, it felt tiring.

One by one, the other members started trickling into the kitchen. They greeted him with sleepy smiles and murmured “Good mornings.” Namjoon, who was usually the first to rise.

“Good morning, Jin,” Namjoon said, noticing that Jin looked paler than usual. “You okay?”

Jin offered a weak smile. “Yeah, just tired. Nothing to worry about.”

“Good morning, Jin,” Jimin said, his eyes still half-closed. “You’re up early.”

Jin managed a weak smile. “Morning, Jimin. Just getting breakfast ready. Help yourself.”

Jimin nodded and grabbed a plate. Soon, Jungkook and Taehyung came down, both still groggy but visibly pleased with the breakfast Jin had prepared.

“Hyung, you really didn’t have to,” Taehyung said, taking a seat at the table.“It’s fine,” Jin replied, though his voice was hoarse. “I wanted to.”

Hoseok was the last to come down, and he immediately noticed Jin’s pale complexion.

“Are you feeling alright, Jin-hyung?” Hoseok asked, concern evident in his tone.

“I’m fine,” Jin said, waving off the concern. “Just a bit tired.”

Hoseok didn’t look convinced but didn’t press further. Jin made sure to stay out of the way, keeping himself busy with serving and refilling dishes.

Finally, he went upstairs to wake Yoongi. Yoongi was known for his deep sleep and occasional grumpiness. Jin knocked on Yoongi’s door and waited for a response. When there was none, he knocked again, a bit louder this time.

“Yoongi, it’s time to wake up,” Jin called through the door.

Yoongi mumbled something unintelligible and turned away from the door. Jin pushed open the door slightly and walked into the room. He gently shook Yoongi’s shoulder. “Come on, get up. Breakfast is ready.”

Yoongi groaned and sat up, rubbing his eyes. “What time is it?”

“It’s breakfast time. Get up, or you’ll miss it,” Jin said, his voice firm but gentle.

Yoongi grumbled but eventually got out of bed. As Jin turned to leave, he felt a wave of dizziness hit him. His vision blurred, and he stumbled. He grabbed the doorframe to steady himself, Yoongi noticed and shot him a concerned look.

“Are you alright?” Yoongi asked, getting out of bed and stepping closer.

“I’m fine,” Jin insisted, trying to brush it off.

Yoongi wasn’t convinced, but let it slide for now. They both made their way downstairs, where breakfast was waiting. By the time they reached the table, everyone was already seated and eating. Jin took his place, but instead of digging into the food, he poured himself a cup of chamomile tea and sipped it slowly.

The members chatted and enjoyed their breakfast, but Jin remained quiet. He occasionally took small sips of his tea, hoping it would help soothe his feverish body.

After breakfast, the group prepared for their practice session. Jin’s head was still throbbing, but he forced himself to push through. They arrived at the practice room, and the intensity of the rehearsal only added to Jin’s discomfort. He tried his best to keep up, but as the hours went by, his energy faded.

At one point during a particularly dance move, Jin felt his strength give out. His  vision blurred, and he nearly collapsed, but Jungkook caught him just in time.

“Hyung, you’re burning up!” Jungkook exclaimed by just touching Jin’s arm.

The other members quickly gathered around, their faces filled with concern.“Jin, what’s going on?” Hoseok asked, his usually cheerful demeanor replaced with worry.

“I’m fine,” Jin insisted weakly, though his voice was barely audible.

“No, you’re not,” Namjoon said firmly. “You’re burning up with fever.””

Hoseok immediately went to fetch a medical staff, who arrived with a medical kit and examined Jin. They checked his temperature and took his vitals.

“You’re running a high fever,” one of the medical staff said. “We need to give you an injection to help bring it down.”

Jin looked apprehensive but didn’t protest. He was too exhausted to argue. The injection was injected, and Jin was guided to a nearby cot to rest.

The other members gathered around, their faces etched with worry.

“Hyung, you should have said something sooner,” Jungkook said, his voice tinged with frustration. “We would have taken care of you.”

“I'm the oldest I should care of you,” Jin replied quietly, his voice barely above a whisper.

“Even if you're the oldest, you should've said something, Hyung. It could have ended worse,” Taehyung said firmly. “You scared me.”

“Hyung, you really scared us,” Jimin said softly.

Jin managed a faint smile. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to.”

“You need to take better care of yourself,” Namjoon said firmly. “You can’t just push through when you’re this sick.”

“I know,” Jin replied, his voice barely above a whisper. “I didn’t want to worry you all.”

Yoongi stood by Jin’s side, “Just take it easy. You’ll feel better soon.”

Jin nodded and closed his eyes. The injection seemed to help, and he began to feel a bit better, though he was still far from 100%.

The medical staff continued to look after him, and after some time, Jin was allowed to go home. The other members helped him gather his things and made sure he was comfortable before heading back to their dorm.

The next day, Jin felt much better. His fever had subsided, and he was able to join the rest of the group for breakfast. They all gathered around the table, and Jin was pleased to see everyone smiling and relaxed.

“Feeling better?” Namjoon asked, a hint of relief in his voice.

“Yes, much better,” Jin replied, smiling. “Thank you for taking care of me.”

The members nodded, and they continued their meal.

From that day forward, Jin made a promise to himself to be more open about his needs and to let his members support him when he needed it. The members, in turn, were more mindful of each other’s well-being.
