"Next week we have a lot of work ahead, though I don't think all those alphas will need any protection once they're here."
"That's not what worries me, it's what will happen afterward."
Jean and Connell walked along a walkway of the pack house, with the sky fading into the horizon.
"Do you fear a war?"
"I can see it coming."
"Don't be the oracle—nothing is written yet."
"Yeah, yeah, are you really convinced of that?" Connell didn't argue, knowing there was no way to convince Jean otherwise about the outcome of the security council Marcus had called with the pack.Walking along a walkway on the east side of the palace, the two warriors enjoyed the morning warmth easing their limbs and the view opening up beyond the railing: the pack house gardens looked like an Amazonian island transplanted there, with the cool morning light casting iridescent shades on the leaves and foliage of the dense vegetation. The greenhouse and botanical study were visible from where the two warriors stood, but the serene quiet from that place was suddenly interrupted by a shout of joy from inside the botanical study:
"EUREKA!" The two warriors glanced at each other, then turned their gaze toward the small figure of Sirius rushing out of the door and striding quickly into the garden.
"E-Eureka?" Jean said uncertainly at first, then repeated it with more emphasis, now grasping the meaning behind the word. "We have to tell everyone," Connell said with the same wonder, echoing the message.
Sirius walked with a slight limp but a swift pace, determined that not even his aching joints could stop him from reaching his goal. The palace staff looked at him just as confused while he loudly repeated that Marcus and Amalya needed to be informed, though no one knew exactly about what. In his hand, he clutched a vial like a trophy, for it contained nothing less than the long-awaited antidote for Arya, which would soon put an end to all the Klein family's worries.
He didn't wait to knock on Arya's door, as in the next moment he found Filip and Nori asleep in their chairs, the latter resting his head on the alpha's shoulder.
"Eureka! Eureka! It's finally ready!" Filip woke up immediately, momentarily confused about what Sirius was shouting about or what time it was, then noticed the vial in the botanist's hand, realizing what the warriors had already figured out:
"Eureka!?" He jumped to his feet, inadvertently causing Nori to lose his support and fall to the floor.
"Ugh...what the hell..."
"Ah, sorry Nori, sorry!" Filip quickly apologized to the beta, helping him up as he remained dazed.
"What's going on?" Filip was about to answer, but Marcus and Amalya burst through the door, their expressions of disbelief suggesting a miracle had occurred."Sirius, did you do it? Is it finally ready?" Sirius displayed the antidote with a kind smile.
"Yes, but it wasn't my doing. It was Nori who made it." All eyes turned to Nori, who was just as surprised by these words.
"W-what are you saying, Sirius?"
"This solution is yours, but the compounds reacted overnight, likely due to the slow release of algaria, leading to this final result. From the faint glow of the mixture, I knew the antidote was ready."Nori was in disbelief at the news and didn't know what to say for a moment, then felt Filip's hand grasping his own.
"You did it, Nori. Arya is safe." Nori let out a deep breath mixed with laughter, then looked at Arya's parents and read the hope and joy in their faces, knowing their daughter was finally out of danger.
It felt as though a heavy weight had been lifted from Nori's shoulders, one he hadn't realized he had been carrying until then.Arya's infusions were administered without complications, under the watchful eyes of her entire family. Sirius soon reported that the omega would wake soon, easing Amalya's heart.
"Thank you so much...thank you infinitely."
"It's our duty, my moon. But now you might want to spend some time alone with her until she wakes," Sirius said, addressing the parents, who nodded in agreement. Marcus and Filip shared a brotherly hug, exchanging comforting words that warmed Nori's heart, and then did as Sirius suggested, leaving the couple a moment alone with their daughter.
Once in the hallway, Nori said:
