You were basking in the afterglow of the day's events, staring out of your massive penthouse windows at the city lights of Piltover. The new song he had recorded with Ahri was blowing up online, the comments section already full of compliments, adoration, and excitement. Ahri herself had left a flirty comment, and even Evelynn, despite her jealousy, had given you a cryptic message of approval.
You smiled to yourself, reveling in the success and attention. Everything was going perfectly. The money, the fame, the music—you had it all. But as you stood there, your phone buzzed on the counter, cutting through the serene atmosphere.
The name "Vi" flashed across the screen.
you picked it up, your mood light, and answered, "Vi! What's up?"
But the tone on the other end wasn't cheerful or casual like it normally was. There was something off, something heavy.
"Y/n..." Vi's voice was soft, low, and burdened. "We need to talk."
your heart sank immediately. "Vi? What's going on?"
There was a pause, and when she spoke again, her voice was shaky. "It's about powder."
The mention of her sent a chill down your spine. You had spent years wondering where she had gone, hoping she was alright, wishing for a reunion like the ones in the old days, before everything had fallen apart. But hearing her name now, in Vi's serious tone, filled you with dread.
"I... I don't know how to say this," Vi continued, struggling with her words. "It's gotten bad, y/n. Really bad."
you gripped the phone tighter. "What do you mean? What's happened?"
"I joined the Enforcers," she explained, her voice cracking slightly. "I thought I could use the resources, the contacts, to find powder. But I... I wasn't ready for what I found out."
you felt his stomach twist. you didn't want to hear the next part, but you knew you had to. "What did you find, Vi?"
Vi hesitated, the silence almost unbearable before she finally spoke. "She's... she's been involved in some of the worst things happening in Piltover lately. Blowing up buildings, attacking people—there are reports coming in almost daily now. The cops think she's some kind of terrorist, and she goes by jinx now"
Her words hung in the air like a punch to the gut. you stumbled back a step, struggling to breathe. "No... that can't be right. powder... she wouldn't—"
"She would," Vi interrupted, her voice pained. "I don't know what happened to her after we got separated, but she's not the same Powder we knew. She's changed. And it's bad."
You felt your world shattering around him. The joy from earlier, the success, the praise—it all felt meaningless now. Powder was your best friend, practically family. The thought of her being involved in something so destructive was unimaginable, yet Vi's voice left no room for doubt.
"What do you need me to do?" you finally asked, your voice hoarse. you didn't know what else to say.
"I need your help," Vi said, her tone softening. "I've been trying to track her down, but I can't do it alone. She's hiding deep in Zaun, and I'm going down there tomorrow. I need you with me."
your heart pounded in your chest. It had been ages since you had been back to Zaun, and the thought of returning now, under these circumstances, filled you with anxiety. But you couldn't say no. Not to Vi, and definitely not when it came to powder.
"Alright," you agreed, though your voice wavered slightly. "I'll meet you there."
There was a long pause before Vi responded, her voice almost a whisper. "Thank you. I know this isn't easy, bring something to conceal your identity"
