You woke up the next morning with a sense of anticipation that made your heart race. This was it—the day you'd been dreaming of for years. You could barely contain your excitement as you got out of bed and hurried to get ready. Today, you weren't just any kid from Zaun; today, you were DOOM, the artist who was about to make it big.
You dressed carefully, picking out your best clothes—nothing too fancy, just a clean, sharp look that still reflected who you were. A part of you felt like you were about to step into a different world, but you wanted to make sure you didn't lose yourself in the process. After all, it was your authenticity that had brought you this far.
As you adjusted your bomber jacket, You caught your reflection in the cracked mirror. Your eyes were bright, filled with a mixture of nerves and excitement. You took a deep breath, trying to calm your racing heart. Today was going to change everything.
You walked into the kitchen, where your mom was already up, brewing a pot of coffee. When she looked up and saw you, her eyes widened in surprise.
"Y/n, you look so handsome!" she exclaimed, a smile spreading across her face.
You smiled back, feeling a little self-conscious. "Thanks, Ma. I wanted to look good for today. I've got some big news."
She set down the coffee pot and turned to him, curiosity and concern mingling in her eyes. "What is it, baby? What's going on?"
You took a deep breath, trying to find the right words. "Senna—she's gonna sign me, Ma. To a real record label. And they're gonna pay me—like, a lot. Enough to get us out of here, to start fresh."
For a moment, Your mom just stared at you, her eyes wide and her mouth slightly open. Then, the realization of what you were saying hit her, and tears welled up in her eyes. She rushed forward, pulling him into a tight hug.
"Oh, y/n," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion. "I'm so proud of you. So, so proud."
You hugged her back, feeling a lump in your throat. "I couldn't have done it without you, Ma. You believed in me when no one else did."
You stood there for a moment, holding each other as the weight of the moment sank in. This was it—Your ticket out of Zaun, out of the struggle you'd known for so long. It was almost too much to take in.
Just then, a honk from outside broke the moment. You and your mom pulled apart, and you looked toward the door, feeling his heart skip a beat.
"That must be the car," you said, you voice tinged with excitement.
Your mom wiped her eyes and smiled. "Go on, baby. I'll be right here waiting for you when you get back."
You nodded and grabbed your bag, giving her one last smile before heading out the door. When you stepped outside, you froze in your tracks.
Parked in front of their apartment was a sleek, black limousine. You blinked, hardly believing your eyes. You had expected a car, maybe something nice, but this... this was something out of a dream.
