XVI: Wilted Flower
Turbulent Tides | Chaotic changes, like the wild, unpredictable movements of the sea.
The warm afternoon sun bathed the concrete in a soft golden glow, casting long shadows across the skate park.
The air was just the right mix of cool and warm, a slight breeze ruffling their hair as they stood at the top of the ramp.
Skaters around them kicked off, zooming across the park with ease, while others lounged around, soaking in the late afternoon peace.
Minho adjusted his helmet with a smirk. "So, ready to get your ass handed to you?"
Riki snorted, strapping on his pads. "Oh, please. By you? The guy who nearly broke his leg last time we came here?"
"I was warming up," Minho shot back, rolling his eyes. "And in my defense, that board was cursed."
"Right. You've just got two left feet, bro. Admit it," Riki teased, pushing off and gliding smoothly down the ramp like he owned the place.
Minho shook his head, following after with a kick of his board. "Yeah, two left feet that are about to smoke your sorry ass."
They raced side by side, weaving through other skaters. Minho leaned into a turn, picking up speed as they neared the edge of the bowl. "First one to land a trick wins."
"You're on," Riki grinned, kicking up his board and spinning into a clean ollie. He landed smoothly, barely breaking stride. "Too easy."
Minho rolled his eyes again but kept going. "Alright, show-off. Watch and learn."
He kicked up, aiming for a simple trick, but halfway through, the board slipped from under him.
Minho flailed in the air before crashing hard on the ground, his helmet knocking against the concrete with a dull thud. Groaning, he rolled over, glaring at the sky.
Riki burst out laughing, skating over to hover above Minho. "Dude, are you okay? You looked like a newborn deer out there."
Minho groaned, waving a hand dismissively. "Shut up."
