XXVIII: Wilted Flower
Dreams of Dread | Unsettling dreams filled with fear and mystery, something ominous lurking within them.
As expected, the unfathomable girl had vanished once again, like smoke slipping through his fingers.
A few days had passed, and regret clung to Minho like a suffocating shroud. He wished he had held her, offered her comfort, or at least apologized sincerely before she slipped away.
Each moment of silence echoed with the memory of their last fight, where he had spoken words he didn't mean, watching helplessly as Iris stormed out, her heart clearly heavy with burdens he couldn't grasp.
Despite the fractures that marred their connection, his resolve remained unshaken. He was prepared to uncover the truth, no matter the risks, if it meant freeing her from the weight she carried.
"Hey," Minho said, crossing the room and folding his arms. "You've been acting strange. You look like you know something. Spill it before I assume you're hiding something as pathetic as your last haircut."
"Wow, real original, Minho. But if you think I'm the one hiding secrets, maybe you need to look in the mirror. I'm not the one who made her storm out." Riki shot back, his tone laced with sarcasm.
He crossed his arms, standing his ground, but the tension in his posture betrayed a hint of unease.
"Cut the crap," Minho snapped, his voice low and intense. "I can see it in your face. Something's wrong. You're hiding something."
Riki's eyes darted away, but he remained silent. The tension thickened, palpable in the air between them.
Minho stepped closer, his frustration boiling over. "What the hell is going on? Just tell me what you know about Iris!"
"I swear, I don't know anything!" Riki protested, his voice rising defensively.
"Then why does it feel like you're lying?" Minho demanded, grabbing Riki by the collar and shaking him, rage flooding his veins. "You need to tell me!"
