Mira hops off the table, bouncing on the balls of her feet. She sees Brekker doling out money for supplies and he waves her over.

"Mira, you'll go with Inej to get winter supplies."

Mira lets Inej keep the money but walks over to the door, tapping her hands on her knives. "Lead the way."

Mira is happy that Inej is stable on her feet above the streets. She'd have to stab someone if she had to spend another moment around people crowding the streets.

As they glide over the streets, Mira keeps an eye and ear out for anyone harassing a woman. Nothing, thankfully. Inej doesn't strike her as the type to stop her, but Brekker would be upset. And it's just bad business to upset your wallet.

"You nervous?" Inej must've seen her flicking eyes and made a guess.

Mira looks up at the Suli girl. "Nah, nerves don't really set in until thirty seconds before I have to do the thing," she eyes the girl. "You?"

Inej looks out to get her bearings. "I am."

Mira nods and a phrase pops into her head. "Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, only today of its strengths."

Inej pauses, deep in thought as they slow their pace, getting closer to the shop. "I like that one."

"It was one of my mother's favorites."

"My mother liked 'Well begun means half done'."

Mira smiles, her mind drifting to her father and his own drive for preparedness. "She sounds nice."

"She was. Is." Inej lowers herself to drop down into the alley.

Mira hops down beside her. She walks out, hardening her glare to carve a path to the door. She holds it open for Inej. "Ladies first."

Inej cracks a small smile and enters. "Thank you." She hands a copy of the list to Mira.

They split up and gather the materials. Inej pays and Mira bags everything up so they can take it back to the Crow Club or Slat. Whichever one Brekker told them to go to.

They discuss proverbs all the way back, and Inej also tells her a bit about her life before she came here. From the little she gathers, her hatred for Tante Heleen increases tenfold and she moves up the list for when Mira gets any free time.

The glimpses and passing words she has with the Dregs over the next few hours are tense. She realizes why when they meet up for lunch, just a quick bite to gauge everyone's readiness.

"We're leaving when?" Mira's eyes widen. She really hates it when she misses information.

"Tonight," Inej whispers to her. "Kaz wanted me to tell you the ship is the Ferolind."

"No berth number?"

She shakes her head. "Not one he gave me."

Mira bumps her head on the table. "I need more clothes," she grumbles and stands.

Inej stands with her. "Kaz doesn't want us to go out unless we have a good reason."

"Tell him he can kiss my pretty ass." Mira snaps. She needed food and wanted to see Ran one more time. She moves out the door and makes her way to the alley. There was already a stack of old ale barrels so she climbed those to get easy access to the roof. She goes back to The Tipsy Dog and climbs through her window. Ran is downstairs with a couple drinkers, nobody drunk just yet, and one who's crow tattoo she recognizes. At least he makes good on his deals. She crosses over to Ran and waves to get her attention.

Ran gives her a quick hug and Mira whispers in her ear, "We leave tonight. I just wanted to say goodbye again."

Ran hugs her a little tighter. "May the grass on the road to damnation grow tall from want of use."

Mira kisses her temple. "Biodh do ghloine làn, agus do leaba blàth."

"Tha fios againn le chèile nach tachair seo gu bràth."

"One can wish."
