19th August 2024

The hangover didn't hit me as hard as I'd feared, which was honestly a pleasant surprise. Eloise and I had decided to skip class today, opting to laze around in our apartment instead. Maybe we'd venture outside later to enjoy the unusually nice weather, but for now, lounging on the couch in oversized hoodies felt just right.

As I scrolled through pictures from last night, I couldn't help but smirk at some of the blurry, chaotic moments we captured. But then I realized something—or rather, someone—was missing from most of the photos.

"Hey, where were you and Aidan last night? You two kinda vanished when we were all at the booth." I asked casually, glancing up from my phone.

Eloise, who had been comfortably scrolling through her own feed, froze. Her posture stiffened just enough to catch my attention. "Oh... that."

I raised an eyebrow. "Well?"

She hesitated, fidgeting with the sleeve of her hoodie. It wasn't like Eloise to get flustered, and now she looked like she was spiraling.

"Look, Indie... Promise me you won't judge me."

I set my phone down, giving her my full attention. "Of course. You know I won't say anything."

Her eyes darted around the room as if she were trying to gather the courage to speak. "Okay, so... it was a complete mistake. Like, it wasn't supposed to happen at all. We were drunk, and—oh my god, I messed up so bad. What am I gonna do? I can't face him at class—"

"Lou," I interrupted gently, reaching over to put a hand on hers. "Breathe. You're rambling. Just tell me what happened."

She exhaled a shaky breath, nodding. "Okay. Like I said, we were both drunk, and things... just happened. I kissed him, Indie. And then he kissed me back. And, oh my god—" She buried her face in her hands for a moment, muffling her words. "It was the best kiss of my entire life!"

I blinked, processing her confession. "Wait—hold on. How do you just kiss a guy you've barely known for what? A week?"

Eloise groaned, flopping back dramatically against the couch. "I know, I know! But it wasn't like that. I mean, we've been sitting together in Sociology, and we've kind of clicked, you know? He's funny, and smart, and I guess we've gotten pretty close without me realizing it."

I tilted my head, still a little incredulous but not judging. "I mean, I get it. You two have been inseparable in class, but... I'm just surprised. And a little shocked."

She sighed, staring up at the ceiling as if it held all the answers. "Same, honestly. But now what? How do I act normal around him after that?"

I leaned back beside her, giving her a sympathetic look. "You'll figure it out, Lou. But first, maybe just... text him?"
