"What the hell are we doing here? It's night, Klaus!"

Emersyn exclaimed, Her eyes narrowed in frustration as they walked briskly through the dimly lit halls of Mystic Falls High School.

Her arms were crossed tightly, and she glanced around, wary of being caught.

Klaus smirked, barely glancing at her. She strode confidently ahead.

"Well, I have business to do. And you happen to be useful. Not that I can't protect myself, but you are required here, so shut up!"

He shot her a sharp glare, his voice echoing off the walls.

"Ugh, prick," Emersyn muttered under her breath, rolling her eyes as she walked behind him, her annoyance palpable.

"I heard that!" Klaus snapped, turning his head slightly with a smirk of satisfaction.

"Well, I wanted you to hear that!" She said smiling.

Emersyn huffed, her irritation growing.
"You know, since I'm here, I need to enroll in this high school. Yet, it's damn night! The principal is at home now! How am I supposed to do that?"

"Not now, little witch. I have more important things to do," Klaus replied dismissively, his focus on the task at hand.

As they moved through the corridor, a door swung open, revealing Elena standing there, her eyes wide with shock.

Klaus's expression turned predatory, an atwisted smile playing on his lips. "There's my girl."

"Klaus!" Elena screamed, fear flashing in her eyes as she turned to flee, only for Klaus to blur in front of her with supernatural speed.

"You're supposed to be dead. What are we going to do about that?" he taunted, leaning in closer, his voice a low, dangerous rumble.

"Katherine?" Emersyn asked, her eyes darting between Klaus and Elena, confusion etched on her face.

Both KIaus and Elena turned their attention to Emersyn, momentarily taken aback by her question.

Back at the truck, Stefan stirred, his brow furrowing as he regained consciousness.

"Oh, he lives," Rebekah announced with a sarcastic drawl, arms crossed as sheleaned against the truck.

"What happened?" Stefan groaned,
rubbing his neck as he tried to sit up.

"Well, my brother kept breaking your neck. It was quite a temper," she replied with a mocking smile, tilting her head slightly.

"What are we doing in Mystic Falls? he asked, trying to piece together the fragments of his memory.

"It turns out you're a liar, the Doppelganger is still alive, my brother is probably ripping her head off," Rebekah said, her tone laced with disdain.

Stefan lunged at her, anger flashing in his eyes, but Rebekah was quicker. She slammed him against the truck, her strength pinning him in place.

"Consider me jealous," she said coldly, driving the crowbar into his stomach with a swift, vicious motion.

------

"Katherine Pierce? What the hell are you doing here?" Emersyn asked, her surprise evident as she stared at Elena.

"I am not Katherine; I'm Elena Gilbert, Elena replied, her voice shaky but firm.

"You know Katherine?" Klaus asked, his eyes narrowing with suspicion.

"Ah, not quite, but I've met her. This is insane. You look just like her. Wait, you're the doppelganger Gloria was talking about!"

Emersyn exclaimed, realization dawning on her.

"Little witch, how do you know all that?" Klaus demanded, his tone sharp and probing.

"Ugh, fine. Gloria tried to kill Stefan. I saved him from her, yet this Katherine Pierce killed her. Happy?"

Emersyn retorted, crossing her arms defiantly.

"You did what?" Klaus asked, his eyes widening in shock.

"Oops," Emersyn shrugged, a sly smile tugging at her lips.

Klaus's expression darkened, anger simmering beneath the surface.

"We'll talk about this later," he said through gritted teeth, forcing himself to remain calm.

Elena stood frozen, her relief at hearing Stefan's name quickly replaced by fear as she wondered what Klaus had planned for her.

Klaus turned his gaze back to Elena, his eyes piercing and intent.

"You put a rather large kink in my plans, sweetheart. The whole point of breaking the curse and becoming a hybrid was to make more hybrids. I haven't been able to do that. Now my bet is, it has something to do with the fact that you're still breathing."

"If you're going to kill me, just do it!" Elena challenged, her voice trembling, but defiant.

"Not until I know I'm right. But I do have ways of making you suffer." Klaus threatened, his voice a chilling promise of pain.

"Like hell you'll do!" Emersyn interjected, stepping forward, her posture challenging and unwavering.

"Excuse me?" Klaus's eyes widened, surprise and irritation flickering across his features.

"You heard me! I will not stand by and watch you torment innocent people for your own gain, Klaus,"
